More Democrat Negro Corruption...Maxine Waters and Laura Richardson under investigation

From Michelle Malkin:

Readers of this blog are quite familiar with the corruption scandals involving California Democrats Maxine Waters and Laura Richardson.

Back in March 2009, I spotlighted Waters, her husband, and their smelly involvement with minority-owned bank called OneUnited.

And dating back to May 2008 through July 2009, this site chronicled the financial shenanigans of Richardson, who defaulted six times on her home loans and has left a trail of unpaid bills in her wake.

Well, lookee here: The House is investigating both. These probes rarely amount to anything more than wrist slaps. But “RAAAACISM” charges are inevitable before, during, and after the investigation:

The House ethics committee announced Thursday it is investigating two California Democratic lawmakers, but its embarrassed leaders then had to explain that other members—named in a confidential memo that a hacker posted online—may have committed no wrongdoing.
The committee said it is investigating whether Rep. Maxine Waters used her influence to help a bank in which her husband owned stock, and whether the couple benefited as a result. Separately, the panel is investigating whether Rep. Laura Richardson failed to disclose required information on her financial disclosure forms and received special treatment from a lender.
Wait, there’s more:

The Post reported that nearly half the members of the House Appropriations defense subcommittee were under scrutiny.
The previously disclosed inquiry involves lawmakers who steered appropriations to clients of a now-defunct lobbying firm and received campaign contributions from the firm and its clients.

The names included three lawmakers previously identified in the inquiry: the chairman of the defense subcommittee, Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa.; and Reps. Peter Visclosky, D-Ind., and James Moran, D-Va.

The Post said others whose names were in the report included Reps. Norm Dicks, D-Wash., Marcy Kaptur, D-Ohio, C.W. Bill Young, R-Fla., and Todd Tiahrt, R-Kan.
The committee, however, has not announced an investigation of any of these lawmakers.

Rush Limbaugh: Pelosi Is a Liar and Thief & Should Go to Jail (Video) - Gateway Pundit/First Things

Members of Congress and the American people are just beginning to look at Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) 1,990-page government takeover of health care, but it’s already becoming clear just how costly and unsustainable this proposal is. From higher taxes on middle-class families to job-killing mandates on small businesses to cuts in Medicare benefits for seniors, here are 10 facts every American should know about Speaker Pelosi’s 1,990-page government takeover of health care:

1. RAISES TAXES ON MIDDLE CLASS FAMILIES. Speaker Pelosi’s health care bill imposes a range of tax increases on families with income below $250,000, breaking a promise made by Obama.

Tax increases on middle class families include:

1) an individual mandate tax of up to 2.5 percent of income for taxpayers earning as little as $9,350;

2) repeal of a tax break on medicine purchased with funds from an HSA (health savings account);

3) limits to tax relief through FSAs (flexible spending accounts);

4) taxes on medical devices that will inevitably be passed on to consumers; and
a new tax on all insurance policies.

What if Bush had done that?

1) A four-hour stop in New Orleans, on his way to a $3 million fundraiser.

2) Snubbing the Dalai Lama.

3) Signing off on a secret deal with drug makers.

4) Freezing out a TV network.

5) Doing more fundraisers than the last president.

6) More golf, too.

President Barack Obama has done all of those things — and more.

What’s remarkable is what hasn’t happened. These episodes haven’t become metaphors for Obama’s personal and political character — or consuming controversies that sidetracked the rest of his agenda.

Stimulus job numbers overstated by thousands

Washington — A Colorado company said it created 4,231 jobs with the help of President Barack Obama’s economic recovery plan. The real number: fewer than 1,000.

A child care center in Florida said it saved 129 jobs with the help of stimulus money. Instead, it gave pay raises to its existing employees.

Elsewhere in the U.S., some jobs credited to the stimulus program were counted two, three, four or even more times.

The government has overstated by thousands the number of jobs it has created or saved with federal contracts under the president’s $787 billion recovery program, according to an Associated Press review of data released in the program’s first progress report.

The discrepancy raises questions about the reliability of a key benchmark the administration uses to gauge the success of the stimulus. The errors could be magnified Friday when a much larger round of reports is released. It is expected to show hundreds of thousands of jobs repairing public housing, building schools, repaving highways and keeping teachers on local payrolls.

The White House seized on an initial report from a government oversight board weeks ago that claimed federal contracts awarded to businesses under the recovery plan already had helped pay for more than 30,000 jobs. The administration said the number was evidence that the stimulus program had exceeded early expectations toward reaching the president’s promise of creating or saving 3.5 million jobs by the end of next year.

But the 30,000 figure is overstated by thousands — at the very least by nearly 5,000, or one in six, based on AP’s limited review of some of the contracts — because some federal agencies and recipients of the money provided incorrect job counts. The review found some counts were more than 10 times as high as the actual number of jobs; some jobs were credited to stimulus spending when, in fact, none were produced.

The White House says it is aware there are problems. Ed DeSeve, an Obama adviser helping to oversee the stimulus program, said agencies have been working with businesses that received the money to correct mistakes. Other errors discovered by the public also will be corrected, he said.

“If there’s an error that was made, let’s get it fixed,” DeSeve said.

There’s no evidence the White House sought to inflate job numbers in the report, but the administration embraced the flawed figures the moment they were released.

The figures released earlier this month claimed jobs linked to roughly $16 billion in federal contracts, an initial report on a small fraction of the total stimulus program. DeSeve said federal officials had only a few days to go through the data for errors before they were made public.

It’s not clear just how far off the 30,000 claim was. The AP’s review, which was not an exhaustive accounting of all 9,000 contracts reported by the government so far, homed in on the most obvious cases of jobs wrongly tied to the stimulus because of duplications or misinterpretations of how the jobs should be counted.

ACORN Scandals Grow & Grow - AIM

When two college students pretending to be a prostitute and her pimp sought help from ACORN employees, staffers couldn't do enough for them as the two claimed to be importing underage girls to work as ladies of the evening. The Association for Community Organizers for Reform Now responded with a lawsuit.

Documentarian Andrew Breitbart, who helped distribute the videos, disputes the claims made by ACORN. "ACORN claims this is a $100 million Fox News investigation," Breitbart said at a press conference at the National Press Club here in Washington, D. C. on the morning of October 21, 2009. "Actually, it was a $1,300 investigation."
"Then why didn't they sue Fox News rather than James and Hannah?" Breitbart asked. James O'Keefe and Hannah Giles-the former in his mid-20s, the latter barely in her third decade-who on the basis of their investment undertook the ACORN investigation, were also at the Press Club event but would not take questions due to pending litigation.

Their visit to the Philadelphia ACORN office, as it is the center of legal action, had to accordingly be amended. The edits caused a perceptive Huffington Post contributor at the event to note that the Philly footage Breitbart showed was "heavily edited."
Actually, the other ACORN videos have circulated widely on the internet and led to a vote to cut off federal funds in a Congress dominated by a political party that has arguably been the chief beneficiary of the non-profit's activities. Their reaction is the more remarkable because, as Breitbart noted at the Press Club, outside of Fox News and the internet, the O'Keefe-Giles videos have received little attention in the media.

Obama’s Media Control Strategy - AIM

You may not have noticed that the Obama Administration, in addition to trying to seize control of the health care and energy sectors, is implementing a national "broadband plan" to redefine the media and transform America's system of government. It's designed, they say, to provide "open government and civic engagement." But it looks increasingly like an excuse for the federal government to control the Internet and access to information and even tell us what is truth.
Norman Ornstein of the American Enterprise Institute recently explained at a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) "National Broadband Plan Workshop" that it is necessary to have "a common space with shared facts." Armed with $7.2 billion of "stimulus" money, the federal government is going to provide this. It looks like various progressive groups are lining up at the public trough for their share of the loot. They have in mind what the George Soros-funded Free Press calls "an alternative media infrastructure."

White House Says No ‘Veracity’ to Argument That Forcing Individuals to Buy Health Insurance Is Unconstitutional

( – White House Spokesman Robert Gibbs told on Wednesday that there is no "veracity" to the argument that the U.S. Constitution does not authorize the federal government to force individuals to buy health insurance. The Congressional Budget Office has said that the federal government has never before in American history forced Americans to purchase any good or service. When the health-care bill was being debated in the Senate Finance Committee, Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), the former chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, raised questions about the constitutionality of forcing Americans to buy health insurance, which all congressional versions of the health care bill would do.Hatch rejected the notion that the Commerce Clause--which empowers Congress to regulate commerce "among the several states"--justifies forcing Americans to purchase a product they do not want to buy. If Congress can make people buy health insurance, Hatch argued, they can force Americans to buy refrigerators or new cars.

New Poll Says Women Don’t Want to Switch on Healthcare

A new poll was released yesterday by the Independent Women’s Forum (IWF) revealsing that -- 54% of women would not consider trading in their coverage for a public plan. The poll by Kellyanne Conway’s WomenTrend, a division of the polling company, was commissioned to get a better understanding of women’s attitude towards healthcare and healthcare reform. IWF surveyed 800 (registered to vote) women nationwide from October 19-25, 2009.This poll really reaches out to the “nation’s women who account for two out of every three healthcare dollars spent, 80% of whom see a doctor on a regular basis annually, and 56% who take a prescription medication. Women really are the chief healthcare officers of their households and for their extended families,” said Conway in a conference call to discuss the polls findings.

An open letter to the American Academy of Family Physicians

This was sent to me via a family member and I was given permission to publish FYI.

Unfortunately, the academy has chosen to align itself with politically biased organizations in support of the current administrations urgent push for national health care reform. The most obvious effort is the "Heal Health Care Now" project in association with the Herndon Alliance. For those unfamiliar with the Herndon Alliance, there are some informative pieces on and also contains plenty of unsettling information, including discussions on "messaging" the reform effort. Particularly disturbing is their "words make a difference"(Thoughtspeak) guide suggesting "positive perception" versus "negative perception" words to use in advancing their leftist agenda; ("guaranteed" vs. "required", "sliding scale" vs. "free", "peace of mind" vs. "government health care for all"). The short and skinny on this group is that it is advertised as politically neutral but functions (both now and in past presidential elections) as a left of center branch of the Democratic party. For those members like myself who wondered at e-mails from the academy encouraging its membership to "speak up" for reform and not let the "naysayers" derail the effort this would seam to explain a lot.

This is disgusting and intolerable. The AAFP has betrayed its membership and has allowed socialist political groups to high-jack yet another professional organization in support of an agenda geared toward societal reform, disguised by the language of health care. You've become as repugnant as the AMA. The current "reform" movement is simply another extra-Constitutional expansion of the power of federal government. If it were about healthcare, the GOOD ideas would be getting traction. Does anyone really expect increased government involvement in any process is going to increase efficiency, increase quality, and decrease cost?

This academy may continue to support the side of government mandates, costly social programs, and collectivism versus individual responsibility, tax breaks, and free market options, but it will do so without my dues or my complicity. I hereby resign my membership in protest, encourage my like-minded colleagues to do the same, and encourage dissemination of this e-mail to as many of our conservative colleagues who continue to stand fast and refuse to "just shut up and drink the kool-aid" of Obama-flavoured Marxism.

To those of my colleagues who happen to see this, genuinely believe in socialized medicine, and fervently wish to practice/ration medicine as a minion of some heartless, bloated, failing, state-run bureaucracy, I apologize for the interruption. I would also invite your attention to the fact that there currently exist several heartless, bloated, failing, state-run bureaucracies in desperate need of your services. The British, Canadian, and New Zealand health services seam to have perpetual want ads in most American medical journals. Best of luck.

Hot Air: Pathetic: Jarrett backtracks from Fox News bias claim when asked about MSNBC

Credit CNN here. Not only did Campbell Brown follow up with a question about MSNBC after this sorry hack went into Fox-bashing mode but actually posted a write-up noting her lame retreat when confronted. Say, did you know that the White House is “calling everybody out,” not just Fox News? Keep watching those Sunday morning chat shows; I’m sure Axelrod and Emanuel will be on again soon to lay out their arguments against CNN and MSNBC.

The money line? “We’re going to speak truth to power.” The ultimate expression of self-righteous victimhood, offered here by … a senior advisor to the most powerful man on earth.

WOW and check this out:

Video: Shep Smith apologizes for Fox’s lack of balance

Did anyone see this live? HuffPo and Weasel Zippers picked it up but I’m having a hard time believing the video edit didn’t omit some important detail. Is this really how it happened? If so, what exactly is Shep’s problem? Does “fair and balanced” now mean interviewing both candidates at the same time? If Carl Cameron nabs an interview with Harry Reid about the public option, I’m pretty sure he’s not required to go sprinting down the hall to make sure he gets some comment from Mitch McConnell before the bit airs. And given the left’s demagoguery of Fox, how do we know that Corzine isn’t boycotting the channel altogether? Are Republicans now personae non grata if their Democratic counterparts unilaterally decide that FNC isn’t worth their time? What’s this about, seriously?

Damaging Disclosures in Van Jones Scandal - AIM

When Van Jones resigned his White House job, under fire for his pro-communist views, White House adviser David Axelrod said that Jones had himself made the decision to leave the administration. But new documents indicate that Jones didn't even write his own resignation letter. It is now abundantly clear that he was pushed out because the scandal threatened to implicate Obama friend and White House adviser Valerie Jarrett in the scandal that gave him a critical White House position without proper vetting.

Jones, a self-identified communist, was an anti-police activist in Oakland, California, before an extreme makeover landed him at the George Soros-funded Center for American Progress in Washington, D.C. as a "senior fellow." This is the entity that has provided a number of top officials for the Obama Administration and even sponsored public appearances by cop-killer apologist Marc Lamont Hill, the fired Fox News analyst who appeared regularly on "The O'Reilly Factor."

The documents I have received indicate that many different officials from the White House, operating on the evening of Saturday, September 5, and into the early morning hours of Sunday September 6, were preoccupied with the matter of how to arrange Jones' ouster from the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ). It is clear that the increasing scrutiny devoted by Glenn Beck of Fox News to Jones' communist connections was taking its toll on the Obama Administration.

Obama's Real Enemies List - The American Spectator

By Mark Hyman

Much has been made by the political left of Richard Nixon's infamous enemies list. The reality is most of those named were people who did not receive presidential Christmas cards or White House reception invitations.

In contrast, Barack Obama has a real enemies list the peace prize-winner and his proxies have attacked during the past year, including the minority of news outlets that do not worship the media's latest false idol.

In August 2008, the Obama campaign implored the Justice Department to levy criminal charges against those funding an American Issues Project commercial that proved embarrassing to Obama. Days later, the campaign sent an "Obama Action Wire" to thousands of liberal activists exhorting them to harass Chicago's WGN radio because an on-air guest unearthed university documents that contradicted Obama's claims about his long-time ties to domestic terrorist Bill Ayers.

In the autumn, state prosecutors and top sheriffs in the swing state of Missouri who were prominent Obama supporters complied with a chilling Obama campaign request. The officials threatened to prosecute media outlets that printed or broadcasted material they deemed to be inaccurate about the Democratic nominee.

In the final days before the election, three newspapers that endorsed John McCain were booted from the Obama campaign bus. The New York Post, Dallas Morning News and Washington Times were unceremoniously shown the door immediately after their papers' endorsements appeared and were replaced with Jet and Ebony magazines.

EDITORIAL: Another judicial radical - Washington Times

Another day, another Obama nominee who doesn't appear to love America. Another nominee who thinks the United States is inherently racist. Another nominee who thinks that judges should let their "ethnic and racial background" have an effect on how they conduct their trials. President Obama's radicalization of American government needs to be stopped.

In this case, the nominee is Northern California federal district court nominee Edward Chen, forwarded by the Senate Judiciary Committee to the full Senate last Friday on a party-line vote. Mr. Chen is currently a federal magistrate in San Francisco, and a lawyer long active with the American Civil Liberties Union before that.

Judge Chen's words speak for themselves. When the congregation sang "America the Beautiful" at a funeral, Judge Chen told the audience of his "feelings of ambivalence and cynicism when confronted with appeals to patriotism - sometimes I cannot help but feel that there are too much [sic] injustice and too many inequalities that prevent far too many Americans from enjoying the beauty extolled in that anthem."

In a speech on Sept. 22, 2001, he said that among his first responses to the Sept. 11terrorist attacks on America was a "sickening feeling in my stomach about what might happen to race relations and religious tolerance on our own soil. ... One has to wonder whether the seemingly irresistible forces of racism, nativism and scapegoating which has [sic] recurred so often in our history can be effectively restrained."

On CNN Headline News Oct. 22 broadcast of "The Joy Behar Show," left-wing author and conspiracy theorist Gore Vidal shared his thoughts about President Barack Obama. He said he thought the 44th President of the United States might be a little overqualified - at least as far as his intelligence.

"I like him," Vidal said. "I wish he knew more about the United States. I was for Hillary at the beginning on the grounds she knew how to be president. Having sort of done the job as a spouse. And then I realized, you know, he's too intelligent for the job."

MSNBC Anchors Lash Out at Cheney; Wonder If He’s of a ‘Rational, Healthy Mind'

MSNBC anchors David Shuster and Tamron Hall on Thursday lashed out at a speech Dick Cheney gave that was critical of Barack Obama, speculating on whether the Vice President is of a "rational, healthy mind." Attempting to attack the Bush administration’s handling of Afghanistan for eight years, News Live co-host Tamron Hall dismissed, "Is it selective amnesia?"

Shuster and Hall seemed particularly upset over Cheney’s speech on October 21 where the Vice President accused Obama of "dithering" on an Afghanistan strategy and also being "afraid" of making a decision. Talking to Newsweek reporter Michael Isikoff, Hall bristled, "As a woman, of course, I read in all kinds of machismo with this language, you are afraid to come out with a decision, almost taunting there."

The liberal Shuster could barely contain himself. Commenting on Cheney’s frail physical condition, he taunted, "What do you think he is after here, assuming that he is of some sort of rational, healthy mind?"
Obama Escalates Feud: Administration Attempts to Exclude Fox News from White House Pool

Just when you thought the White House couldn't possibly do anything to make their bizarre feud with the Fox News Channel an even larger spectacle - the administration manages to take it to another level.

Over the past two weeks, three White House officials have publicly criticized the Fox News Channel by denigrating its status as a news outlet - White House Communications Director Anita Dunn, Senior Advisor David Axelrod and Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel. And even the president himself commented on his opinion of Fox News. However, that pales in comparison to the latest petty stunt.

On the Oct. 22 broadcast of Fox News Channel's "Special Report," host Bret Baier revealed a White House pool announcement was offering Kenneth Feinberg, the "Special Master for Compensation," better known as the White House "pay czar" for interviews -all except for one network - Fox News.

Mortgage tax credit fraud by illegal aliens? Shhhhh - Michelle Malkin

Whenever I have noted illegal alien mortgage fraud over the years, I’ve been smacked with the RAAAAACIST card

Wonder if the Inspector General for Tax Administration is going to get
mau-mau-ed by the open borders lobby, too.

The rush to implement a tax credit for first-time home buyers opened the program up to potential fraud by people who hadn’t bought a home or already owned one, Congress was told Thursday.
J. Russell George, Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration, questioned the eligibility of some 100,000 claims out of the 1.5 million who have sought to take advantage of the $8,000 tax credit incorporated in the economic stimulus package enacted last February.
He said claimants include those who could possibly be illegal immigrants and that 580 people seeking $4 million from the first-time home buyer credit were under the age of 18. The youngest taxpayers receiving the credit were 4 years old, his office said.
George and an Internal Revenue Service official testifying before a House Ways and Means Committee subcommittee stressed that many of the questioned claims may eventually be found to be legitimate after further examination.
But the hearing raised a yellow flag as Congress considers whether to extend, or even expand, the popular program that is set to expire at the end of November.
The top Republican on the panel, Rep. Charles Boustany, Jr., of Louisiana, said that while the issue of extending the credit was not the purpose of the hearing, “every time Congress creates a new refundable credit … the incentive for fraud is magnified.”

Profiles in Cowardice: ‘Moderate’ Democrats and the Chamber of Commerce. - Red State

H/T: Instapundit)
The following two paragraphs from this piece (”White House attacks
worry moderate Democrats
,” and the title will be brought up again later)
highlight not only the problem that quote-unquote ‘moderate’ Democrats are
having with the administration’s War On The Chamber Of Commerce: they highlight
the general problem with ‘moderate’ Democrats.

While Limbaugh and Fox commentators like Beck make no secret of their dislike for Democrats, the Chamber’s Republican lean is partially counteracted by nominal and financial support for pro-business Democrats who need to win votes from pro-business Republicans. The campaign websites of moderate Democrats from across the country are filled with endorsements from the Chamber of Commerce.

Rep. Sanford Bishop (D-Ga.), another recipient of a Chamber contribution, said Thursday that he had no intention of stepping into the middle of a fight between the White House and the Chamber, but he did note that he had won an award for his voting record from the national
Chamber of Commerce.

How brave of him. Bishop is from a D+1 district, by the way; and
he’s got a challenger. State Rep. Mike Keown, and his comment about
Bishop pretty much sums it up:

Unfortunately, we are stuck with a professional politician who listens
to liberal California House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, left wing environmentalists, big labor, and Washington lobbyists while ignoring you.

George Will explains how Obama has established the Social Security COLA as "the capstone to the architecture of the entitlement culture that is modern liberalism's crowning achievement."

The difference between Democrats and Republicans ... according to President Obama.

The White House says that the government's economic stimulus spending has already had its biggest impact and probably won't contribute to significant growth next year.

I missed this earlier...

Obama's Columbia thesis excerpt surfaces
- American Thinker
Michael Ledeen at PJM reports on President Obama's Columbia college thesis, of which ten whole pages were made available to Joe Klein. The paper was entitled "Aristocracy Reborn," and Obama wrote this about the Constitution:

"... the Constitution allows for many things, but what it does not allow
is the most revealing. The so-called Founders did not allow for economic
freedom. While political freedom is supposedly a cornerstone of the document, the distribution of wealth is not even mentioned. While many believed that the new Constitution gave them liberty, it instead fitted them with the shackles of hypocrisy."
What on earth does this President have to do to get the media coverage he so richly deserves!
In the Virginia Governor's race, Republican candidate Robert McDonnell wrote a graduate thesis twenty years ago that could be politically damaging to his campaign. That decades old thesis has been covered by the Washington Post on August 30 and again on September 1. It has been reported on in some depth across the spectrum of media outlets from NPR to US News to the CS Monitor to FOX and on and on!

Or maybe a decades old claim that the U.S. Constitution didn't give early Americans liberty but fitted them with the shackles of hypocrisy doesn't deserve some questions, like what did you mean by that and when and how did your thoughts change -- if they did?

I’m getting a headache reading all this stuff so here are some pretty pictures…

NRO- Voting Present Is Not an Option... Punk Ass Obama vs Fox again... and more Media Malpractice

By: Victor Davis Hanson (link)

While our Narcissus-in-Chief is frozen gazing at his perfect image in his private pool, choices have to be made in Afghanistan. Consider the following:

(a) We have a Democratically controlled Congress that by and large has supported, since 2004, the Kerry-Obama-Hillary Clinton narrative of a "good" war in Afghanistan, supposedly shamefully neglected by George Bush's neo-con adventure in Iraq, but absolutely vital to the security of the United States, and one entirely winnable — if only we allot sufficient resources.

(b) We have a proven command in Generals McChrystal and Petraeus and their circle of subordinates, who crafted a winning counterinsurgency strategy in Iraq that defeated the terrorists, ensured stability for the fragile constitutional government, and took a tremendous toll on the human and material resources of al-Qaeda, as well as the reputation of radical Islam among the Middle East street.

(c) We have thousands of battle-hardened, experienced veteran soldiers and their officers, who know far more about the Middle East in general, and counter-insurgency in particular, than was true than when we first deployed to either to Afghanistan in 2001, or Iraq in March 2003.

(d) The Islamic world is much less in thrall (polls tell us that) to bin Laden and his advocacy of suicide bombing and terrorism than it was five years ago; Pakistan in general, the victim of numerous terrorist attacks, is far more willing to take concerted action that aids our cause than at any time in the last eight years. And we have a president who by his own admission resonates abroad in a way not true of the past, and will be given a level of international support not usually accorded to American efforts in the Muslim world.

(e) The president has a domestic opposition — entirely unlike that of George Bush's — that is eager to support President Obama to fulfill his promise to win Afghanistan by devoting more resources to the effort.

(f) We have a media mesmerized by Obama, that will withhold criticism of him in Afghanistan in a way that was simply not true of the Bush effort in Iraq, that, nonetheless, proved successful.

(g) We have a split public, but one far more amenable to a surge in Afghanistan than was true in late 2006 of the proposed surge in Iraq.

(h) We should be bolstered by our success in Iraq, and the enemy demoralized by its failure; rather than vice versa.

Given the above, and given that George Bush made a far more difficult choice that saved Iraq, it is hard to figure out why Obama can not make a simple decision to send troops requested by commanders on the ground.

Nine Months Into Obama's Presidency, Hillary Clinton Still Citing ‘Inherited’ Problems - CNS News

( – From the time he entered the White House, President Obama frequently has spoken about having “inherited” an economic mess, and he has been criticized for it. But the expression arguably has been used even more often by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Nine months later, it is a theme she returns to regularly at home and abroad.

During her most recent trip, a six-day visit to Western Europe and Russia earlier this month, Clinton used the phrase publicly at least four times on three occasions.

At a joint press conference with her British counterpart David Miliband in London on October 11, she said with regard to Afghanistan, “We have been in office about nine months. We obviously believe that the prior eight years were not as effective or focused as they might have been … our challenge has been to take what we inherited…”

Obama in New York: Vote for ‘the bill you least like’ - Red State

Apparently the secret to passing ObamaCare is for the President to acknowledge that all Members of Congress have something they don’t like about the bill, but to vote for it regardless:

AP reports the President said in New York yesterday:

“The bill you least like” improves coverage for millions, he said in New York. “Let’s make sure that we keep our eye on the prize.”
Seems a little strange to announce this in New York, a blue state, that members need to hold their nose and vote for health care reform. Is this the winning formula? Is holding New York members of Congress becoming tough? And if the President needed to say this in New York, what does this mean for the rest of the country?

Obama has described Fox News as "operating basically as a talk-radio format" rather than as a "news outlet."When NBC's Savannah Guthrie raised [in a segment of her extended interview of the president aired on Today this morning] the issue of White House attacks on Fox News, PBO first tried to play the statesman, resorting to the old dodge about "the American people" being more interested in jobs and the situation in Afghanistan. But when politely pressed, PBO didn't hesitate to fustigate Fox.

This just might explain some things...

Obama Meets With Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow

A day after key White House officials declared the Fox News Channel wasn't a news organization, President Obama met with MSNBC personalities Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow.

Talk about your delicious hypocrisy.

Shocker! Taxpayers Won't Get Their Money Back from Bailouts

Personally I think that anyone who voted for Obama should go to jail for voter incompetence, but hey…

From Rush

Hey, have you heard the latest news out there, folks? Well, the latest news out there is that the taxpayers are not going to get their money back on the bailouts. They just announced this today, that we're not going to get the money back on the bailout of Chrysler or General Motors, and we're not going to get the money back on TARP. That's news to me, but whoever thought we were going to get our money back, and, by the way, what does that mean, the taxpayers get their money back? Even if the taxpayers got their money back they're not writing us a check for it, it's going back into the Treasury where they'll continue to spend it. The taxpayers will not get their money back?

Greetings, my friends, and welcome. Rush Limbaugh and the EIB Network. Great to have you here, already the middle of the week here on the fastest week in media, fastest three hours.

The special inspector general for Treasury's financial sector rescues, a guy named Neil Barofsky, he oversees the $700 billion TARP program and he says that the cost to taxpayers will be a lot greater than the government's letting on and that we're not going to get our money back. He said the bailout has several hidden costs. Now, inspectors generals are supposed to be independent and they can say whatever they want, but this guy is not long for the world. One is the hard cost of borrowing money to fund the rescues of banks and other companies. Oh, by the way, Obama's bailing out some more banks, smaller banks and small businesses, more bailout cash, more failure topped upon more failure. Now, the other hidden costs, according to Barofsky, "are less tangible but no less important: The danger that comes with rewarding companies that took excessive risk, and the loss of the government's credibility with taxpayers." (laughing) That's a hidden cost? A hidden cost, all this, is the loss of the government's credibility with taxpayers?

Obama's numbers are plunging. Even CNN has a poll. Half the country oppose Obama's policies, half the country. His approval index at Rasmussen is minus 13. That's between the strongly approve and strongly disapprove. The strongly disapprove are 13 points higher than the strongly approve of Obama right now. "'You can't just think of this program in terms of dollars and cents,' Barofsky told CNNMoney. 'We try to bring attention to these other costs, which have the potential to dwarf the monetary loss in dollars.' To be sure, the monetary loss will likely be substantial: Barofsky cites the Congressional Budget Office estimates that the Troubled Asset Relief Program will ultimately cost taxpayers $159 billion," which is BS. It's going to cost us 700 or a trillion! A $700 billion bailout, we're not going to get any money back from it, that's $700 billion ultimately cost. Where did they get $159 here?

Anyway, I just wanted you to know, folks, that they've now officially said that we're not going to get our money back, taxpayers will not get their money back. Barofsky also said this: "I think we are already seeing the political costs of people losing trust and faith in their government, such as the palpable anger this summer in response to health care. It requires a certain amount of good will to support extremely important and expensive programs like bailouts." How long has this guy got for government service? How much time left does this guy have? Hidden cost is the possible loss of trust between the taxpayers and their government? (interruption) Have they lost my trust? Oh, hell, yes, they lost my trust decades ago. My lost trust is just being compounded now. This is such a joke. It's such a joke.

FOXNews: Watchdog: 'Unrealistic' That It Will All Be Repaid

Just as the Obama administration prepares to announce a new TARP-like program for small community banks, Inspector General Neil Barofsky said he believes that 'it's unrealistic to think we're going to get all of that money back.'

WASHINGTON -- The man who watches over the $700 billion in government money given to banks and other institutions to avert a financial collapse said Wednesday he thinks it's too early to say how much will be repaid to the taxpayers.

Just as the Obama administration prepares to announce a new TARP-like program for small community banks, Inspector General Neil Barofsky said he believes that "it's unrealistic to think we're going to get all of that money back."

The Treasury Department has spent more than $454 billion through TARP programs. Forty-seven recipients have paid back nearly $73 billion. That means more than $317 billion remains outstanding with the program set to expire Dec. 31.

Later Wednesday, President Barack Obama is expected to announce the community bank assistance effort. The American Bankers' Association has asked for $5 billion in rescue-fund money to help small banks extend more loans.

Asked on a nationally broadcast interview how he would grade the program, Barofsky said, "I think right now it would have to be an incomplete." Barofsky did say the program was successful in "pulling us back" from a financial collapse, however. At the same time, he told CBS's "The Early Show" that the resumption of huge executive bonus payments by some of the same institutions that benefited from the government bailout has sown distrust and cynicism among many taxpayers.

Racist GOP Sen.’s Office Makes Statement About Interracial Marriage -

Earlier this month, Louisiana Justice of Peace Keith Bardwell refused to perform a marriage for an interracial couple, on the grounds that society has a problem “accepting a child from such marriage.” Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-La.) and Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) called for Bardwell’s removal immediately following the incident; however, Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) has been noticeably silent on the matter.

Blogger-activist Mike Stark pressed Vitter on the Judge Bardwell’s widely-condemned actions Tuesday, saying, “I’ve read that you are the only senior official from Louisiana not to have commented on the judge that refused to marry an inter-racial couple.”
The Louisiana Senator dismissively responded, “I don’t think that’s the case,” and walked into an elevator.
Stark says, “Vitter looked at me and smiled, silently… and waited for the elevator doors to close.”

How “Going Green” Can Be The New Black For Our Community

With everyone from celebrities and huge corporations to small businesses touting their efforts to “go green,” there’s no doubt that the environmental movement has become mainstream. But does environmentalism include Black people? Between dealing with a struggling economy and the host of other problems afflicting the community, some Black people might feel we hardly have any energy left to monitor our carbon footprints or seek organic foods. But according to Kari Fulton, the National Campus Campaign Coordinator of the Environmental Justice and Climate Change Initiative, Black people were green before it became trendy, and caring about the environment is easier than most believe.

“Every Black person has that one person in their family that tells them to turn that light off. That is a part of thinking green,” she says.

Fulton is an avid environmental activist, and she travels specifically to Historical Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) to talk to students about “being Black, but thinking green.”

How far will Negros take their environmentalism…

Save Earth – Eat Your Pet - Gateway Pundit

The left now wants us to eat our pets to save the planet.Gross.Watts Up With That posted this disgusting pet-hating study:

The eco-pawprint of a pet dog is twice that of a 4.6-litre Land Cruiser driven 10,000 kilometres a year, researchers have found.

Victoria University professors Brenda and Robert Vale, architects who specialise in sustainable living, say pet owners should swap cats and dogs for creatures they can eat, such as chickens or rabbits, in their provocative new book Time to Eat the Dog: The real guide to sustainable living.

The couple have assessed the carbon emissions created by popular pets, taking into account the ingredients of pet food and the land needed to create them.

“If you have a German shepherd or similar-sized dog, for example, its impact every year is exactly the same as driving a large car around,” Brenda Vale said.

“A lot of people worry about having SUVs but they don’t worry about having Alsatians and what we are saying is, well, maybe you should be because the environmental impact … is comparable.”
In a study published in New Scientist, they calculated a medium dog eats 164 kilograms of meat and 95kg of cereals every year. It takes 43.3 square metres of land to produce 1kg of chicken a year. This means it takes 0.84 hectares to feed Fido.

They compared this with the footprint of a Toyota Land Cruiser, driven 10,000km a year, which uses 55.1 gigajoules (the energy used to build and fuel it). One hectare of land can produce 135 gigajoules a year, which means the vehicle’s eco-footprint is 0.41ha – less than half of the dog’s.
They found cats have an eco-footprint of 0.15ha – slightly less than a Volkswagen Golf. Hamsters have a footprint of 0.014ha – keeping two of them is equivalent to owning a plasma TV.

Woman’s Lottery Hoax Causes Riot At Ohio Burlington Coat Factory

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A woman being driven around in a rented limousine pulled up at a coat store and announced she’d won the lottery and would pay for everyone’s purchases, police said, but she ended up causing a riot when customers realized it was a hoax.

Angry customers threw merchandise around and looted, leaving the store looking as though a hurricane had passed through it, police said.

Linda Brown was arrested Tuesday after an hours-long shopping spree that began when she hired a stretch Hummer limousine to drop her off at a Burlington Coat Factory store, police Sgt. Lt. Michael Deakins said. Brown walked to a cash register and loudly announced she had won the lottery and would pay for each person’s merchandise up to $500, he said.

“Well, of course, people like to hear that,” Deakins said. “Apparently they were in line calling relatives who were not at the store and told them to come.”

As The World Turns: ACORN Video: Prostitution Scandal in Philadelphia, PA Part I

From Big Government

Now that ACORN lied to you, Media Matters, what are you going to do?

The Media’s Complicity: Analysis of ACORN Coverage - Big Government

by Billy Hallowell

The mainstream media were complicit in their coverage of the ACORN scandal. Their behavior was and continues to be an insult to democracy and journalistic responsibility as the Fourth Estate has ignored facts, engaged in one-sided sourcing, and avoided basic and inherently important journalistic questioning.

First, there was avoidance. Some media outlets simply ignored the story. On Sept. 15, five days after the Maryland tape was released, ABC’s Charlie Gibson said, “I don’t even know about it… so you’ve got me at a loss” and said that the story might be “just one you leave to the cables.” But, Gibson was not alone in his lack of knowledge. The New York Times did not cover the story for nearly a week.

On Sept. 26, Clark Hoyt, The Times’ Public Editor, acknowledged the paper’s tardiness, but insinuated that the story was lacking in facts:

But for days, as more videos were posted and government authorities rushed to distance themselves from Acorn, The Times stood still. Some stories, lacking facts, never catch fire…But others do, and a newspaper like The Times needs to be alert to them or wind up looking clueless or, worse, partisan itself.

Then, there were cases of gratuitously sloppy journalism. Some of the outlets that did cover the story simply skipped over basic interview questions. In several instances, Bertha Lewis made the false claim that the filmmakers were turned away in “dozens of cities.” In a CNN interview with Rick Sanchez, Lewis said, “…the filmmakers went to dozens of offices. They were turned away.” In a more flagrant example of corroborating untruths, Lewis reiterated her “dozens” on MSNBC, stating, “…They were thrown out of dozens of offices. And, in fact, in Philadelphia, we called the police, filed a police report.”

Similarly, Wolf Blitzer, failed to adequately question Lewis. While on his show, Lewis made the following statement: “This sort of notorious crew went around to dozens of our offices. What you don’t see are the offices that threw them out… offices that filed police complaints.”

The lack of depth of these interviews with Lewis has been egregious. Upon hearing of the “dozens,” even the most unseasoned journalist would know to ask, “What were the cities where filmmakers were thrown out?” And, what about the police reports (plural) that were filed by multiple “offices”? Like Sanchez’s treatment of the “dozens,” Blitzer failed to ask for a list of cities that took such action. Lewis was granted a free pass, as no probing questions were asked about the issues in question.

Thanks Barack. Unemployment Rose in 23 States in September - Gateway Pundit

Under the leadership of Barack Obama the unemployment rate rose in 23 states in September.

The AP reported:

Unemployment rose in 23 states last month as the economy struggled to create jobs in the early stages of the recovery.
While layoffs have slowed, companies remain reluctant to hire. Forty-three states reported job losses in September, while only seven gained jobs, the Labor Department said Wednesday.
Some of the states that lost jobs still saw their unemployment rates decline, as discouraged workers gave up looking for work. People who are out of work but no longer looking for jobs aren’t counted as officially unemployed.
That trend was evident nationwide in September, as nearly 600,000 people dropped out of the work force, the department reported earlier this month.
The U.S. jobless rate rose to 9.8 percent in September, a 26-year high, from 9.7 percent.

Official attacking network, anti-'birther' lawyer a couple

Here is video of this skank.

Video Source: Attack on Fox News right out of Alinsky playbook

Attacking Fox News and defending President Obama is a family affair for Anita Dunn, the White House communications director who has blasted Fox as an arm of the Republican Party and talked about "controlling" the news media.

She's married to Robert Bauer, the chief of the political law group at Perkins Coie, the Seattle law firm hired by the White House to defend Obama in court cases challenging his "natural born" citizenship status and thus, his eligibility under the U.S. Constitution to be president.
Dunn is targeting Fox News with criticisms emanating from the administration that it isn't even a news network, while Bauer has done his best to prevent the American public from seeing a wide range of Obama's records that could prove, or disprove, his eligibility to occupy the Oval Office.
'Flying imams' rewarded for ominous airline 'stunt'? - WND
Police detective: 'Acts of staged controversy could be used to desensitize security personnel'

It's a jubilant night over at CAIR.

The nation's self-proclaimed foremost Muslim civil rights group, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, is celebrating what it calls a "victory for justice and civil rights" and an end to the fear of "flying while Muslim," thanks to a legal settlement reached earlier today.

Most Americans remember the Nov. 20, 2006, spectacle of the half-dozen Muslim clerics who were kicked off a US Airways Minneapolis-to-Phoenix flight after engaging in behavior that alarmed both passengers and crew before takeoff. Many on board feared the imams – who prayed loudly in Arabic, refused to sit in their assigned seats, fanned out in the cabin in pairs to occupy the front, middle and rear exit rows, ordered seat-belt extenders they didn't need, criticized the Iraq war and President Bush, talked about al-Qaida and Osama bin Laden and other disconcerting behaviors – were testing security procedures in a dry run for a future hijacking.
The imams, who insisted they were acting innocently, were booted off the plane, detained for several hours and questioned by airport police, the FBI and Secret Service, and prevented from booking a later flight on US Airways.

As a result, in a high-profile lawsuit championed by CAIR and argued by a CAIR-affiliated attorney, the "flying imams" brought suit against not only US Airways and the airport authority, but even the fearful passengers, or "John Does," who had simply reported the suspicious activity.

Outraged at the obvious chilling effect the case had on citizens who had been encouraged post-9/11 to be vigilant about security, Congress passed a law to protect citizens from being sued for reporting suspicious behavior to law enforcement. The passengers were subsequently dropped from the case.

But after Judge Ann Montgomery of the U.S. District Court of Minnesota ruled the "John Doe" law didn't immunize law enforcement officers named in the "flying imam" lawsuit, the case went forward.

Today, both sides announced that an out-of-court settlement involving payment to the imams had been reached, though the amount was undisclosed per mutual agreement.
Mr. Salazar, Tear Down This Cross The Weelky Standard
The government is paying the ACLU to knock down our war memorials.

In 1934, a small band of veterans of the First World War gathered at Sunrise Rock, an outcropping of stone in the Mojave Desert. There they raised a modest, handmade white, wooden cross, about five-feet high. At the foot of the cross they placed a plaque that read, "The Cross, Erected in Memory of the Dead of All Wars. Erected 1934 by Members of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Death Valley Post 2884."

Many of these men had moved to Death Valley following the Great War on the advice of doctors, who thought the warm, arid climate would help their injuries heal. For the most part, they lived a humble existence: Some took up mining; some built small ranches. John Riley Bembry was typical. Born in 1899, he had been a medic in the war and then dabbled in prospecting, living in a shack made of wood planks and corrugated aluminum seven miles from Sunrise Rock. He was a man of little religious conviction, but he agreed to look after the memorial.

Over the years, the cross sometimes fell prey to vandals. In one such incident, both the plaque and the cross were taken and Bembry replaced the wooden cross with one made of steel pipes. He did not replace the plaque. In 1983, his health failing, Bembry approached a local man he'd befriended, Henry Sandoz, and asked him to assume care of the memorial. Sandoz agreed, and Bembry died a few months later. Sandoz still looks after the memorial today. But perhaps for
not much longer. The Supreme Court recently heard oral arguments in Buono v. Salazar, a case in which a retired National Park Service employee, Frank Buono, is demanding that the government--specifically Ken Salazar, the secretary of the Interior--take down the cross.

Politico: Obama strategy: Marginalize most powerful critics

First Listen to this Jackass!

This is the first of a two-part look at the marginalization of the GOP. Tomorrow: GOP officials fear that the party's image is being defined increasingly by boisterous conservative commentators.

President Obama is working systematically to marginalize the most powerful forces behind the Republican Party, setting loose top White House officials to undermine conservatives in the media, business and lobbying worlds.
With a series of private meetings and public taunts, the White House has targeted the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the biggest-spending pro-business lobbying group in the country; Rush Limbaugh, the country’s most-listened-to conservative commentator; and now, with a new volley of combative rhetoric in recent days, the insurance industry, Wall Street executives and Fox News.

Obama aides are using their powerful White House platform, combined with techniques honed in the 2008 campaign, to cast some of the most powerful adversaries as out of the mainstream and their criticism as unworthy of serious discussion.
Press secretary Robert Gibbs has mocked Limbaugh from the White House press room podium. White House aides limited access to the Chamber and made top adviser Valerie Jarrett available to reporters to disparage the group. Everyone from White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel to White House Communications Director Anita Dunn has piled on Fox News by contending it’s not a legitimate news operation.

All of the techniques are harnessed to a larger purpose: to marginalize not only the individual person or organization but also some of the most important policy and publicity allies of the national Republican Party.

CRAP I AGREE WITH ANOTHER LEFT WING BLOG! - Hypocritical House Republicans

From the Daily Kos, YES the Daily Kos!!
Perhaps pointing out hypocrisy from the GOP is akin to letting people in on the secret that the sky is blue, but what the heck ...

Over the past nine months, House Republicans have worn their Party of No badge with pride, opposing every spending bill to come down the pike and littering the airways to moan about America's descent into socialism. And while no one is arguing that an entire state should be punished because their congressman puts politics over country, their blatant hypocrisy in scurrying home to take credit for the money they voted against must be noted.

Which brings us to just a few examples from the 67 members of the House Republicans Hypocrisy Hall of Fame, compiled by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) from various media reports, press releases, and in the case of Pete Hoekstra, a tweet:

Representative Phil Gingrey (GA-11) – Earlier this month, Gingrey presented a giant check of $625,000 in stimulus funds to the city commission of Cedartown, Georgia, to help fund the installation of new sidewalks and infrastructure –

Representative Don Manzullo (IL-16) – Don Manzullo announced today he has secured $714,000 in federal funding to help improve health care services and higher education opportunities for residents at three institutions in Rockford.

Representative Kevin McCarthy (CA-22) – "I applaud this funding for the Bakersfield Federal courthouse. Over the years, we have faced many obstacles related to this project, but worked together as a community to ensure that this project remained a high priority and would come to fruition."

Representative Ed Whitfield (KY-01) – Representative Ed Whitfield sent out a press release calling himself "a tireless champion for community health centers both in Kentucky and throughout the country."

Representative David Dreier (CA-26) – Representative David Dreier said, "The nation relies on Southern California’s infrastructure and innovation. Strategic federal investments in these areas will yield tremendous returns from coast to coast."

Representative Tom Petri (WI-06) – Representative Petri is a "strong supporter of the allocation" of $754,000 to restore and maintain navigable channels in the Two Rivers harbor, as "maintaining navigable waters in the area is essential for the local economy."

Representative Aaron Schock (IL-18) – "The biodiesel plant is ready to go. I want to call for a meeting with the state to guarantee $20 million in loans for the building of the plant. This could produce real jobs and a real stimulus in the next 30 days."

Representative Mary Bono Mack (CA-45) – "This funding will provide much-needed assistance to local residents who are at risk of losing their homes or experiencing homelessness... I am pleased that our community will benefit from this funding."

Representative Judy Biggert (IL-13) – "These important investments will create local jobs and help keep our area’s road and transit systems working for commuters."
Representative Pete Hoekstra (MI-02) – "If you know of someone thinking of buying first home, now may be the time. Stimulus incentive is very generous! Up to 8k! Check it out."

Of course Washington is rife with people who try to take credit where none is due (see: Bush, George; "Mission Accomplished"), and if it was just one or two shameless hypocrites pulling this nonsense we could dismiss it as just that -- shameless hypocrisy.

But sixty-seven times? That's not coincidence, that's policy.

Folks what can I say, hypocrisy is hypocrisy. If bloggers like me want to bitch about when Democrats engage in shady politics we need to be honest about when Republicans do it.

This is exactly what the tea party movement is designed to highlight.

Obama Associate Implicated in Murder! "And in other Obama Destroys America News..."

Full Story Link here

The sub-headline over the September 16 article says it all: "The investigation into a cop killing in the '70s leads to a law professor who helped launch Barack Obama's political career." The law professor is former Communist terrorist Bernardine Dohrn, a leader of the Weather Underground known for praising mass murderer Charles Manson.

Writer Peter Jamison, who is based in San Francisco, where the cop killing occurred, spent months working on the story and developed many different sources of information. Jamison, who can't be dismissed as a right-winger pursuing a partisan agenda designed to make Obama look bad, examined the evidence in the 1970 Park Police Station bombing case. He finds that it goes straight to Dohrn and other members of the Weather Underground, including her husband, fellow terrorist Bill Ayers, now a professor of education at the University of Illinois.

His article was syndicated by Village Voice Media, a source of news and information for newsweeklies in several major U.S. cities. The outlets include the SF Weekly in San Francisco, the Miami New Times, and the St. Louis Riverfront Times.

Media Peddled Lies

The story is actually an old one, and Accuracy in Media had publicized some of the evidence in the case before the 2008 presidential election, when the media were repeating the lie that the Weather Underground had never killed anyone with their campaign of violence.

In sworn testimony that goes back to the 1970s, former FBI informant Larry Grathwohl had implicated Ayers and Dohrn in the knowledge and/or planning of the bombing murder of San Francisco Police Sergeant Brian V. McDonnell. Metal staples from the powerful bomb ripped through his body, killing him after several agonizing days in the hospital.

President Obama Chooses Decline for America - American Spectator

"Decline Is a Choice: The New Liberalism and the End of American Ascendancy." That was the title of the devastating critique of Obama Administration foreign, defense, and domestic policies delivered by Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer at the annual Wriston Lecture at the Manhattan Institute in New York City on October 5.

Krauthammer responds to commentators arguing that America is suffering overdue, inevitable decline, saying, "For America today, decline is not a condition. Decline is a choice. Two decades into the unipolar world that came about with the fall of the Soviet Union, America is in the position of deciding whether to abdicate or retain its dominance. Decline -- or continued ascendancy -- is in our hands."

And what are our leaders deciding? Krauthammer quite correctly explains, "The current liberal ascendancy in the United States -- controlling the executive and both houses of Congress, dominating the media and elite culture -- has set us on a course for decline. And this is true for both foreign and domestic policies."

The real reason the White House is attacking Fox News: Containment - Hot Air

The rationale of the White House offensive against Fox News has been a topic of much puzzlement lately. Is this just the White House lashing out? Are they trying to rally the base?

But I think Mike Allen and Josh Gerstein nail the real explanation in their story today: The White House is working to prevent stories born on Fox from crossing over into more widely-viewed media. Most Americans still haven’t heard of Van Jones, for instance; and the strategy is now all about containment…

Allen and Gerstein:

“We’re doing what we think is important to make sure news is covered as fairly as possible,” a White House official told POLITICO, noting how the recent ACORN scandal story started because Fox covered it “breathlessly for weeks on end.”

“And then you had a couple days of breast-beating from The Washington Post and The New York Times about whether or not they were fast enough on the ACORN story,” the official said. “And it’s like: Wait a second, guys. Let’s make sure that we keep perspective on what are the most important stories, and what’s being driven by a network that has a perspective. Being able to make that point has been important.”…

“They’re not really a news station,” Axelrod told ABC’s “This Week.” “It’s not just their commentators, but a lot of their news programming if you watch, it’s really not news….The bigger thing is that other news organizations like yours ought not to treat them that way, and we’re not going to treat them that way. We’re going to appear on their shows. We’re going to participate, but understanding that they represent a point of view.”

“It’s not a news organization so much as it has a perspective,” Emanuel said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “More importantly, is to not have the CNNs and the others in the world basically be led in following Fox, as if what they’re trying to do is a legitimate news organization.”

Obama's DOJ Imposes Partisan Elections on Sleepy North Carolina Town - Ace of Spades

The twisted farce that is President Obama's Department of "Justice" recently used the Voting Rights Act to force a small North Carolina town to include party affiliation on ballots for local offices. The DOJ's excuse is that Democrats are less likely to be elected if they aren't identified as Democrats on the ballot and blacks want Democrats—and only Democrats—to be elected.

Yes, the decision is as starkly and as sickeningly racial as that:

The Justice Department's ruling, which affects races for City Council and mayor, went so far as to say partisan elections are needed so that black voters can elect their "candidates of choice" - identified by the department as those who are Democrats and almost exclusively black.

The department ruled that white voters in Kinston will vote for blacks only if they are Democrats and that therefore the city cannot get rid of party affiliations for local elections because that would v

iolate black voters' right to elect the candidates they want.
