Carville to Democrats: Pray Now to Avoid Disaster in November

Democrats don’t pray... do they? Really!? Seriously!?

By Paul Bedard, Washington Whispers

The election environment has turned so ugly for Democrats that one of their most celebrated election advisers is suggesting days of prayer and pure luck to hold off a fall disaster.

Asked what he'd advise Democrats up for election to do, James Carville says, "I'd probably get them to say—being a Catholic—a couple of Novenas," a reference to the Catholic nine-day period of private or public prayer to obtain special graces, to implore special favors, or to make special petitions.

Democracy Corps partner and pollster Stanley Greenberg explained why: If the House election were held today, "we'd have a change election." Meaning the GOP would take control.

They and other Democratic analysts say that even with healthcare reform passed, the public is disgruntled with Washington and the party that runs it. The two say voters are OK with healthcare reform, but are much more eager for jobs and jobs programs. In focus groups held by Greenberg, Americans have asked why the Democrats haven't been as preoccupied with jobs as with healthcare.

The duo today issued a new poll that revealed yet another problem for Democrats: Americans are angered with the deficit and are talking about it all the time. Some 74 percent, said the Democracy Corps-Tulane University poll, talk about the deficit with friends and family. And 93 percent say it's a crisis or major problem. Americans think that it should be addressed with spending cuts, not taxes, but disagree on specific cuts.

And the bad news doesn't end there. Traditional Democratic voters like unmarried women and blacks are getting socked with unemployment. "Pessimism has jumped"among those groups, said the poll.

Plus, Democrats have lost ground on whom voters trust to fix the economy. Democrats now hold a 13-point advantage on the question of who would fix the deficit and an 11-point advantage on which party would cut spending best.

To get out of this mess, Carville has a prescription. First, he says that the political environment has to somehow change so that it isn't so negative toward Democrats. Second, the Democrats have to warn that even while voters might not like President Obama's "two steps forward" on major policy initiatives, they'd hate if the GOP took "three steps back." Third, the Democrats have to boost their voter intensity, something that has started to rise since the passage of healthcare reform. If that happens, the fall midterm election losses could be held to six Senate seats and 25 House seats, he says.

Obama Decides Not to Disrupt Church Services in Washington

"What we've decided for now is not to join a single church, and the reason is because Michelle and I have realized we are very disruptive to services."
Yup that was my reasoning for not wanting to go to church too…

I guess he could not find a church quite as exciting as those in Chicago….

Census folks are racists!!! Finally Apologizes for 'Negro' Line

Story Link

So just how should black Americans identify themselves on the new 2010 census? Black? African-American? Maybe Negro?

When it came time to decide, the agency punted in the racial classifications and included all three, stirring some anger in the black community over the dated "Negro" reference.

On Friday's C-SPAN Washington Journal, the issue caught up with Census Bureau Director Robert Groves. He was challenged by a caller, prompting an unusual apology and a prediction that the word will be erased in the next census in 2020.

"I am black. I did not appreciate the black, the African-American, and Negro," said the caller. "It really hurt my feelings ... that, to me, is racist."

Groves was ready with his apology. "First of all, let me apologize to you on behalf of all my colleagues." He then explained. "The intent of every word on the race and ethnicity questions is to be as inclusive as possible so that all of us could see a word here that rings a bell for us … it was not to be offensive, and again, I apologize on that. My speculation is that in 2020 that word will disappear and there are gonna be other words that are gonna change."

ONLY black people… like myself… can refer to black folks as “Negros.” Now for a small donation I can send you a certificate of absolution allowing you to use the term in certain circumstances… LOL!

Found on Moonbattery

It's fitting that ObamaCare was passed and signed so close to Easter. We keep finding all of these nifty Easter eggs hidden inside it, left by a Bizarro Bunny. When we crack them open, we want to puke from the stench.

Take, for example, this $100 billion-plus rotten egg that is ready to bilk your paycheck for longterm care unless you "opt out" of it.

Aims to help" my arse. How bout that: on average, as much as $146 per month could be sucked out of your already diminished earnings unless you remember to opt out of the program (should you choose to do so). And all this for a plan that sounds like it will have all the long-term solvency of the Social Security AND Medicare Ponzi schemes combined.

Elections do have consequences, as we're continually reminded.

Obamacare Bullies and Punishes The Children - iOwnTheWorld
Beginning in 2014, most Americans will be required to buy insurance or pay a tax penalty. That’s when premiums for young adults seeking coverage on the individual market would likely climb by 17 percent on average, or roughly $42 a month, according to an analysis of the plan conducted for The Associated Press. The analysis did not factor in tax credits to help offset the increase.

The higher costs will pinch many people in their 20s and early 30s who are struggling to start or advance their careers with the highest unemployment rate in 26 years.

Democratic Drill Baby Drill is Actually Bait And Switch - California Conservative

Last night, readers on Drudge read that President Obama was willing to consider drilling on the OCS:
Reversing a ban on oil drilling off most U.S. shores, President Barack Obama on Wednesday announced an expansive new policy that could put oil and natural gas platforms in waters along the southern Atlantic coastline, the eastern Gulf of Mexico and part of Alaska.
When I read that, I was highly skeptical, mostly because I knew one of the things that Congress is thinking about debating next is Cap and Trade. This afternoon, FNC’s Jim Angle reported that he’d had conversations on background with Democratic staffers who admitted that this is all about capturing Republican votes for Cap and Trade.

REP. JOHN CONYERS of MICHIGAN: “The whole health care issue was not about health care it was about Obama. There was a unified conservative attempt to discredit him as a youthful and inexperienced leader. That goes to his re-election in 2012. They (the Republicans) rarely surprise me anymore. I’ve seen a lot of misstatements and propaganda. Let me just say this: The amazing thing to me is that most of the people who are out with the signs shouting and demanding that we vote no and explaining to me what the constitution provides, are going to be the beneficiaries of the bill they didn’t want.”

I started to discredit his idiot ass long before he became president you ignorant ass fuck and I’m black. You see Obama fans I PAID ATTENTION, I paid attention to what he was about, what his political philosophies were, who was pulling his puppet strings and I NEVER believed a damn thing he said. NOW we know everything he said was a fucken lie and this country is paying for it.

If these tired old Negros want to keep making it about race then fine because only the man in the mirror knows what is in his or her heart.

Anyone who opposes Obama solely on the basis of the color of his skin is a fucken fool anyway and only people who lack basic common fucken sense would believe that the people standing up against the policies of this administration only do so because they are racist. If that were the case he would have never been able to raise the kind of money he did and he damn sure would not have been elected. Foolish naive white people put his ass in the Oval office, now that some of these white people now realize that they have been bamboozled they are demonstrating buyers remorse and that does not make them racist.

Sharpton Says Tea Party Racism Charge Is True - AIM
The Rev. Al Sharpton no stranger to controversy told Bill O'Reilly that he has seen the tape of Tea Party protestors using the N-word at their rally before the health care vote.

From Fox News Channel

Sharpton must have some great connections because up to now there hasn't been a shred of evidence to back up the charges and if a tape did indeed exist it would have been on the internet in a nanosecond. Instead conservatives are still left to defend the charges despite the lack of any video evidence a full ten days after the event took place because the liberal media continues to keep the story alive.

Just another day at the office for the mainstream media and their attack first and defend later mentality.

Frustrating, Stubborn Facts - Townhall

By Tony Blankley

The late, splendid Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan once famously asserted, "Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not their own facts." The senator was wrong. (Of course, for those of us who still believe that objectivity is objective, a fact is still a fact, though the heavens may fall.)

The key word here is "entitled." In today's entitlement-crazy Washington, not only do folks believe that about half the country is entitled to other people's money and health insurance policies, they feel they are entitled to their own facts to support their claim to their own entitlement to other people's money and health insurance policies.

Not only that, they believe they are entitled to their own facts to describe the character and conduct of their political opponents. The Democratic Party collectively smeared scores of millions of American Tea Party participants as racist, homophobic, violent terrorists in the absence of a single verified fact in support of even one such incident being attributable to a single individual. Nor did their media pals even bother with the word "alleged."

Is the Value Added Tax coming? - Wizbang

Brit Hume thinks a value added tax or VAT may be around the corner. He suspects the Democrats might pass a value added tax after the November elections when Congress is in a lame duck session, assuming the Democrats lose one or both houses (If the Democrats lose control of both houses, trust me, the Democrats will pass far more than just a value added tax.)

A VAT is kind of like a national sales tax, except it isn't applied when a consumer purchases an item. Instead, a VAT applies to an item every time value is added as it moves up the chain of production, which means the producer, the wholesaler, and the retailer each pay the tax on the amount of the value added. Liberals all think the VAT is wonderful because they say the consumer does not see the tax. Well, that is totally false. Any time a tax is imposed on a producer or service provider, it is passed on to the consumer. It appears to be invisible, but it really isn't.

Sebelius Fixes Preexisting Condition Fubar: Your Invoice Is In The Mail - Wizbang

"Yesterday I wrote about the incompetence of Congress in drafting the ObamaCare legislation, specifically that they had written legislation that contradicted the broad promises of The One himself that preexisting conditions of children would be covered immediately. Many pundits commented that, on the contrary, that is not what the law said and insurance companies were quick to note the letter of the law."

Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius fixed that problem stat:

The (health) industry's response followed a sternly worded letter from Sebelius earlier in the day. In it, the administration's top health care official tried to put an end to questions about the law's intent and wording.

"Health insurance reform is designed to prevent any child from being denied coverage because he or she has a pre-existing condition," Sebelius wrote to Ignagni. "Now is not the time to search for nonexistent loopholes that preserve a broken system."
A purer form of ObamaSpeak could not be found. The problem yesterday was not "nonexistent loopholes". Rather, it was the sloppy and poor work by Congress and its staffers in rushing through a complex piece of legislation without careful consideration.

But now that that problem is fixed, what of Sebelius' cure? Tom Maguire has some thoughts on that:

That was easy! The WSJ reports that all the HHS had to do was ask nicely and the question of whether children with pre-existing conditions got relief under the new health reform bill was solved...

It's worth remembering that, within reason, the insurance companies can play by any set of rules as long as they all play by the same rules. If some companies continue to deny coverage to families of children with pre-existing conditions, the firms that take them on will need to restructure as philanthropic enterprises.

Under shadow of 1957, Arkansas stays out of health-care fight
By Peter Slevin

LITTLE ROCK — As 14 states move forward with a lawsuit to block President Obama’s new health-care law, calling it an unconstitutional infringement on state sovereignty, Arkansas is nowhere to be found.

"They tried it here in Arkansas in ‘57 and it didn’t work," Gov. Mike Beebe (D) told reporters recently. "I think you got to tell people the truth. And if I understand the law, the truth is the federal government can’t just be defied by the state governments."

There are memorials here to the events of 1957, when a previous Arkansas governor rejected federal authority and tried to prevent nine black students from attending all-white Little Rock Central High School. It took U.S. soldiers to protect the students, who made history during an epic struggle over racism and federal power.

To Beebe and Attorney General Dustin McDaniel (D), the lawsuits filed last week and a states’-rights measure proposed for the November ballot are unwelcome echoes. In the face of an implicit request from 33 Republican state legislators to enlist in the court fight, McDaniel remains unmoved…

The Arkansas experience in the 1950s rubbed the state raw and delivered a resounding defeat to segregationists, who made arguments similar to the ones launched by opponents of the Democratic-led health-care overhaul…

Obama To Open Offshore Drilling Areas For First Time

WASHINGTON – In a reversal of a long-standing ban on most offshore drilling, President Barack Obama is allowing oil drilling 50 miles off Virginia’s shorelines. At the same time, he is rejecting some new drilling sites that had been planned in Alaska.

Obama’s plan offers few concessions to environmentalists, who have been strident in their opposition to more oil platforms off the nation’s shores. Hinted at for months, the plan modifies a ban that for more than 20 years has limited drilling along coastal areas other than theGulf of Mexico.

Obama was set to announce the new drilling policy Wednesday at Andrews air base in Maryland. White House officials pitched the changes as ways to reduce U.S. reliance on foreign oil and create jobs — both politically popular ideas — but the president’s decisions also could help secure support for a climate change bill languishing in Congress.

Wal-Mart to slash grocery prices

This is a week or so old but hey if you are going grocery shopping and are budget conscious like I must be now you can use all the help you can get.

(Reuters) - Wal-Mart Stores Inc will cut food prices and mount a new ad campaign over the next six weeks, a threat to other U.S. grocers that sent an industry shares index down more than 2 percent on Friday.

A Morgan Stanley analyst first reported the world's largest retailer's plan, calling it a major setback for other U.S. grocers, and the company confirmed the promotions in an email.

"While this helps address Walmart's traffic woes, we view this as a major setback for the grocery stocks, which have been rallying on hopes of a return to more rational pricing," Morgan Stanley analyst Mark Wiltamuth wrote in a note on Friday.

The Standard & Poor's Food Retail Sub-Industry Index closed down 2.2 percent.

Walmart has used aggressive pricing in grocery and other units to bring shoppers into its stores. The grocery business is particularly pressured by such pricing, as its profit margins are already low.

Investors in Walmart have been concerned about signs that shoppers who gravitated to its stores during the worst of the recession -- boosting sales and profits -- are returning to rivals. Traffic fell in Walmart's U.S. stores during its fourth quarter, despite the holiday season, when shopping is at its peak.

In the promotions, customers entering Walmart stores will be greeted by signs advertising price rollbacks on 10,000 items. The focus of the price cuts will be on food and other consumables.

The changes, to hit stores by April 1, will be supported by a television and media campaign.

That timing means the campaign would be in place just before Easter, which falls on April 4 and is a big time for home-cooked meals.

“The conjunction of a black President and a female speaker of the House — topped off by a wise Latina on the Supreme Court and a powerful gay congressional committee chairman — would sow fears of disenfranchisement among a dwindling and threatened minority in the country no matter what policies were in play.”

I sure would like to know what idiot assholes donated to this tax me more… fuck me more fund.

Virginia’s ‘Tax Me More Fund’ is a big flop - Washington Examiner

When Virginia Delegate Kirkland Cox, R-Colonial Heights, set up the “Tax Me More Fund” in 2002, he did it to make a point: Those complaining the most loudly about spending “cuts” in Richmond could put their own money where their mouth was and make a voluntary contribution to the state.

Last year - to supplement a $74 billion 2008-10 biennial state budget – they did just that. Total collected: $1,500, according to the Virginia Department of Taxation.

That’s better than pre-recession 2006, when just $19.36 was donated, In fact, since 2002, the fund has collected a grand total of just $12,887.04, which doesn’t even pay the salary of one part-time state employee.

I guess that means Virginians think they’re already taxed quite enough.

GOP leaders seek to distance themselves from Michael Steele

Republican leaders in Congress have moved to distance themselves from GOP national chairman Michael Steele, but that job will become more difficult as the spotlight on the midterm election intensifies.

A GOP lawmaker who requested anonymity said the Republican National Committee chairman’s relationship with House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is "not good at all."

The legislator added, "Steele lacks a base of support. The donors, the activists will all drop him if they sense he might squander the electoral opportunity of the decade."

Father of Dead Marine Ordered to Pay Westboro Cult’s Court Costs … Update: How to Help - First Things

stboro cult leader Fred Phelps uses children at his funeral protests.
The father of a Marine who gave his life for his country in Iraq is being forced to pay the Westboro cult’s court costs.

The Baltimore Sun reported, via FOX Nation:
Lawyers for the father of a Marine who died in Iraq and whose funeral was picketed by anti-gay protesters say a court has ordered him to pay the protesters’ appeal costs.
On Friday, the Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit ordered that Albert Snyder of York, Pa., pay costs associated with Fred Phelps’ appeal. Phelps is the leader of the Westboro Baptist Church, which conducted protests at the funeral of Snyder’s son, Marine Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder, in Westminster in 2006.
Lawyers for Snyder say the Court of Appeals has ordered him to pay $16,510.80 to Phelps for costs relating to the appeal, despite the fact that the U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to review the Court of Appeals’ decision.
They say that Snyder is also struggling to come up with fees associated with filing a brief with the U.S. Supreme Court.
“We are extremely disappointed,” said Sean E. Summers, an attorney for Snyder. He added that the U.S. Supreme Court will likely hear the case during its October term and make a decision in June of next year.
“The Court of Appeals certainly could have waited until the Supreme Court made its decision,” Summers added. “There was no hardship presented by Phelps.”
Summers said there is no timetable for when the costs must be paid, but if his client doesn’t have the money when Phelps requests payment the matter would go into collections. Snyder could lose his property or his wages, Summers said.

Gallup crumble: ObamaCare underwater again, GOP surges on generic ballot - Hot Air

The One’s bounce has already started to fade but the numbers for the bill itself were an open question since Gallup’s shocker last week showing a surge of support to 49/40. Momentary spike due to glowing media coverage of the historic historicness of passage? Or a sustained rise as Americans reconcile themselves psychologically to their horrific new boondoggle?

An answer, perhaps:

In the poll, 50% call passage of the bill “a bad thing” and 47% say it was “a good thing.” That’s at odds with the findings of a one-day USA TODAY Poll taken a week ago — a day after the U.S. House approved the legislation — in which a 49%-40% plurality called the bill “a good thing.”…
The failure of the new law to get even plurality support is especially sobering for House Democrats from competitive congressional districts who heeded pleas from the White House and congressional leaders to vote “yes.” The legislation passed 219-212, with just three votes to spare.
“There was on the Democratic side a burst of enthusiasm after it passed saying, ‘Ah, now voters are being won over,’ ” says Charles Franklin, a political scientist at the University of Wisconsin-Madison who studies polling. “The cumulating data this past seven days says that, no, a miracle didn’t happen and the public didn’t suddenly change their views on this. It means that the Democrats still face a tough sell of a public close to evenly divided on this and even slightly more opposed than in favor, and that difficulty didn’t go away with passage.”
With health bill, Obama has sown the seeds of a budget crisis - By Robert J. Samuelson

When historians recount the momentous events of recent weeks, they will note a curious coincidence. On March 15, Moody's Investors Service -- the bond rating agency -- published a paper warning that the exploding U.S. government debt could cause a downgrade of Treasury bonds. Just six days later, the House of Representatives passed President Obama's health-care legislation costing $900 billion or so over a decade and worsening an already-bleak budget outlook.
Should the United States someday suffer a budget crisis, it will be hard not to conclude that Obama and his allies sowed the seeds, because they ignored conspicuous warnings. A further irony will not escape historians. For two years, Obama and members of Congress have angrily blamed the shortsightedness and selfishness of bankers and rating agencies for causing the recent financial crisis. The president and his supporters, historians will note, were equally shortsighted and self-centered -- though their quest was for political glory, not financial gain.
Obamacare Starts Squeezing the Private Sector - The American Spectator

The news on healthcare reform this week is that right off the bat, the major corporations are discovering they will be losing stunning amounts to taxes as a result of Obamacare.

Caterpillar, the first to speak out, reported it will take a one-time write-down of $100 million in order to account for the elimination of a federal tax refund it has been receiving for providing drug benefits to its retired employees. In the following days, AT&T, Verizon, 3M, Deer & Co., and AK Steel Holdings announced they would take similar write downs. AT&T's new tax bill will come to over $1 billion. The news is a body blow to major companies hoping to recover profitability and add jobs.

If all this sounds familiar, it should. It is exactly what Republicans predicted would happen if Obamacare became law. If existing employee benefits were taxed or made more expensive, the GOP argued, employers would either have to absorb the loss or start pushing their employees into whatever "government option" became available.

Violent Liberal Hate Rhetoric: Fifteen Quotes - Right Wing News

My latest Townhall column is called, "Violent Liberal Hate Rhetoric: Fifteen Quotes." Here's an excerpt from the column:
In an effort to distract people from the destructive, illegitimate power-grab-of-a-bill masquerading as health care reform that the Democrats just passed over the objections of the American people, liberal members of Congress have spent days over-hyping threats against them. Of course, the sad reality is that EVERYONE who achieves any notoriety at all in this business gets death threats, but it's only treated as noteworthy by the press when it happens to liberals. Had the exact same events that followed the health care debate happened to Republicans instead of Democrats, it wouldn’t have been a page one story in any major paper in the nation.

Meanwhile, if conservatives truthfully refer to Barack Obama as a socialist or encourage people to fight back against the takeover of 1/6 of our economy, we're hysterically accused of inciting violence, while liberals who actually call for violence and publicly wish death upon conservatives are given a free pass.

Well today, that free pass has run out because people are going to get just a taste of the violent rhetoric that has been coming from the Left for years in this country. Conservatives have long since been willing to stand up and say that they oppose political violence and threats coming from our side – as well we should. So, when will Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Barack Obama finally stand up and condemn the ocean of violence and hatred being spewed by their friends, supporters and ideological allies?

Townhall - What You Get With Free Health Care

By Janet Shaw Crouse - (link)

Most of the arguments supporting the health care reform bill just passed by the Democrats in Congress were myths. These myths were exposed as early as 2008 in a book by Sally C. Pipes, president and CEO of the Pacific Research Institute. Her funny little book skewers everything we’ve heard via the ObamaCare demagoguery. Others, since then, have been equally devastating to the arguments used to ram through ObamaCare.

In fact, the so-called miracles sold by today’s health care hucksters are about as real as those sold by the shysters of old.

However, most Americans see through the political spin, and they are not buying the snake oil. Vision is much clearer outside the Beltway. Further, as John Adams once said, “Facts are stubborn things.” This week, four different polls (Quinnnipiac, Bloomberg, CNN and CBS) show the same result: less than 40 percent of Americans approve of the health care bill that the President just signed. Numerous states are concerned about the way ObamaCare infringes on individual rights. In addition, there are significant constitutional questions about requiring citizens to purchase health insurance or pay a penalty. Many state attorneys general are noting that ObamaCare is the first time Americans would be forced to buy a good or service.

All of that didn’t matter to those determined to see their utopian ideology enacted into legislation. Congressional Democrats, disregarding the will of the people and dressing their action in high-sounding rhetoric, rammed through Congress their unpopular and disastrous plan for “transforming” America into a Cuban, British, Canadian or French image.

One of the prime arguments used to sell ObamaCare was that it would reverse the financial crisis and save the country a gazillion dollars — with benefits beginning in its first year. Sadly, somebody’s arm got twisted to produce Congressional Budget Office (CBO) figures — nicely timed for the House vote — to supposedly back up the Democrats’ arguments. Nobody seemed to understand that the CBO figures were just estimates. Yet, as they say, the devil is in the details. The CBO details clearly indicate that having the government’s role expanded to provide universal coverage will significantly increase costs, as well as premiums and taxes. Worse, the CBO notes that most of the current costs of the U.S. world-class health care are from providing new, cutting-edge treatments and ever-expanding medical technologies. They add, “Given the central role of medical technology in cost growth, reducing or slowing spending over the long term would probably require decreasing the pace of adopting new treatments and procedures or limiting the breadth of their application.”

How’s that for dispelling the claims that quality will remain high, rationing won’t happen, and technology will continue to expand while costs go down? The real life record of government control is a long way from matching the soaring rhetoric that has dominated the media coverage of the health care debate. Further, in those countries where massive government intervention has replaced free market enterprise, the reality is far short of the utopian promises and the policies that have been spun out so recklessly and misleadingly. Price controls, inevitably, limit innovation. If that happens to medical research and technological advancement, the results will be disastrous.

Everybody wants affordable, accessible, and high-quality health care; there are proposals on the table for changes that would make significant improvements in those aspects of U.S. health care. Those proposals would unleash free market competition, improve quality, and lower costs for health care in the same way that it has done for other national industries and businesses. A study by PricewaterhouseCoopers found that American health care is very efficient, with only six percent of the premiums going to administrative costs and fully 86 percent covering the actual costs of care.

But cost control is not the purpose of ObamaCare. ObamaCare is all about redistributing wealth and putting a vast segment of the economy under bureaucratic control — some estimates of health care spending run as high as 20 percent of the U.S. economy by 2016.

Under ObamaCare, Uncle Sam becomes Santa Claus. But sooner or later, the bills come in and all those “gifts” turn out to be pretty expensive after all.

Right now, the U.S. has the “world’s best cancer survival rates” — Sally Pipes reported that Americans “have a better survival rate for 13 of the 16 most common cancers” — a fact most appreciated by those victims and their families who benefit from the expensive drugs that result from years-long research and clinical trials. Most Americans are personally satisfied with their own private health insurance coverage and appreciate the medical advances that save lives and provide miracle cures. Others, too, depend upon American health care. Tens of thousands of foreigners come to the United States for treatments not available or rationed in their home countries.

Most Americans are also aware and appreciate the fact that government-funded programs already provide for those Americans who are truly poor. Hospitals are not allowed to refuse treatment to those without insurance. Medicare, Medicaid, and other special programs for children, veterans, and specific population groups provide care for those with special needs. Nobody claims that these government-run programs provide the quality of care that those with private insurance enjoy. In fact, the false promise of something for nothing — the utopian scheme of everybody having top-quality health care coverage and it not costing anybody any more than they are currently paying — is the biggest myth of all. Sally Pipes quoted P.J. O’Rourke, “If you think health care is expensive now, just wait until it’s free.”

WARNING! Congressional Socialists No Longer in the Marxist Closet

Congressional Socialists No Longer in the Marxist Closet - RBO

The past week Americans experienced a coming out party compared to none other in our lifetimes. In direct defiance of popular opinion and common decency, the so-called Progressive wing of the Democrat Party, otherwise known as the Congressional Progressive Caucus, stood shoulder-to-shoulder and marched in lockstep with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to cram down unconstitutional and unwanted health care legislation. A lot of us have suspected and many others will soon come to realize what this means in the much too near future.

Klein: CZAR WARS — Former Obama czar wants to ‘transform American economy’. Van Jones partnered with group that has history of violence and sabotage - RBO

Van Jones, President Obama’s former “green jobs” czar and newly-appointed Princeton lecturer, has teamed up with a coalition of extremists to push an environmental activist agenda aimed at “transform[ing] the American economy” and bringing about “social change.”

The groups working with Jones have been described as using the tactics of guerrilla communication, agitation and disruption techniques. One organization working alongside Jones, the radical Earth First! environmentalist group, has a history of violence and sabotage.

Klein: President’s extremist pal declares ’socialism has a future’. Urges young socialist group to help ‘dear friend’ Obama- RBO

A personal friend and recent adviser to President Obama addressed a socialist conference at which he declared “socialism has a future,” while urging participants to help Obama.

Cornel West, an extremist race-relations instructor at Princeton, addressed the 10th annual Young Democratic Socialists conference earlier this month. The three-day event took place at Norman Thomas High School in Manhattan, a school named after an American socialist activist.

The meeting, entitled “Real change for a change,” described itself as a “snap shot of the current socialist movement in the United States.”

During the lengthy address available HERE West declared that “socialism has a future.”

ObamaCare Day One - WSJ
Companies are already warning about higher health-care costs.

Democrats dragged themselves over the health-care finish line in part by repeating that voters would like the plan once it passed. Let's see what they think when they learn their insurance costs will jump right away.

Even before President Obama signed the bill on Tuesday, Caterpillar said it would cost the company at least $100 million more in the first year alone. Medical device maker Medtronic warned that new taxes on its products could force it to lay off a thousand workers. Now Verizon joins the roll of businesses staring at adverse consequences.

In an email titled "President Obama Signs Health Care Legislation" sent to all employees Tuesday night, the telecom giant warned that "we expect that Verizon's costs will increase in the short term." While executive vice president for human resources Marc Reed wrote that "it is difficult at this point to gauge the precise impact of this legislation," and that ObamaCare does reflect some of the company's policy priorities, the message to workers was clear: Expect changes for the worse to your health benefits as the direct result of this bill, and maybe as soon as this year.

Thank You Obama voters I hope you folks are sleeping well these days you are to blame for this shit!

Although Obama and the Democrats are trying their best to fuck up the country, try to have a good weekend. Live well... all is not lost. I’m finding throughout my reads that Americans are indeed waking up and they won’t continue to tolerate this crap. So as pessimistic a person as I usually am I do have a sense of optimism.

Obama Greatest Liar In Political History... Obama Loves Taxes

I know some of you idiots who voted for Obama were not paying attention to what this jackass was saying during this debate. Y’all were enamored with his good looks and nice smile and his stammering vernacular cause dude could not use a teleprompter during the debates.
So here we are about to be taxed into oblivion because you mutherfuckers did not pay attention the first time so here it tis again courtesy of the wayback machine.

Barack Obama on Taxes

"And as I have said over and over again, I will not sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits period. This plan will be paid for. The middle-class will realize greater security, not higher taxes. And if we can successfully slow the growth of health care costs by just one-tenth of one percent each year, it will actually reduce the deficit by $4 trillion over the long term."

President Obama Backs Away From Tax Relief Campaign Promise

New tax on medical device makers, part of health care legislation, could push small companies into red

The national trade group for the medical device industry is calling for a restructuring of a tax on his industry that will be implemented in 2013.

The tax, a 2.3 percent excise tax on sales of medical devices, would help fund expansion of the U.S. health care system.

Mark Leahey, president and CEO of the Medical Device Manufacturers Association, told me that he's worried the tax will push smaller device makers into the red.

"There are a lot of small companies that have $50 million in sales, but aren’t running a profit yet," Leahey said. "They’re going to have to lay off employees and cut R&D budgets."

To prevent that possibility, Leahey is suggesting that lawmakers consider tweaking the tax to exempt a company's first $100 million in sales. For sales between $100 million and $150 million, Leahey said he'd like the tax applied at half the rate. The full rate could be applied for sales above $150 million, he said.

"They (lawmakers) need to structure it in a way that dampens the impact on small businesses," Leahey said.

Earlier this week, a blogger said that the tax would hurt Kalamazoo-based Stryker Corp., which makes and sells a variety of orthopedic implants, hospital and surgical equipment.

But Stephen MacMillan, CEO of Stryker, told CNBC that larger companies in his industry would find a way to deal with the extra taxes.

MassDevice, an online medical device publication, released an analysis this week that suggests the 2.3 percent tax would significantly cut into the profits of smaller companies and even could push some of those companies from profit to loss.

A new “mommy tax” in ObamaCare shows pitfalls; Update: Device list linked - Hot Air

The Senate proposal for ObamaCare at first included a tax on all “medical devices,” a broad categorization that would have imposed fees on such staples as tongue depressors and tampons, according to Amanda Carpenter at the Washington Times.  Only after a backlash from critics did Sen. Max Baucus amend his plan to only tax Class II devices starting at a retail price of $100, and all Class III and above devices.  However, that includes another staple for mothers, especially working mothers of infants, who want to raise their children on breast milk while earning a living:
When Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus proposed taxing medical devices to raise $40 billion over the next 10 years for his health care plan, opponents started digging in and looking at what would be taxed. It turned out feminine products, like tampons, were classified as class I medical devices and thus, the “tampon tax” was born.
The backlash was quick and severe enough against the idea that the committee quickly drafted new language that would exempt those necessities from the tax, along with all other class I devices, like tongue depressors, and decided to only tax class II medical devices and higher that cost [more] than $100.
But, just wait for the revolt to start again because women will still pay a price under the new structure. Particularly new moms who want to use a powered breast pump to bottle milk for their babies. Those devices, labeled class II, typically retails for more than $100.
Has anyone taken a look at the devices to which this new tax will apply?  There are more than 2900 of them, according to the FDA’s listing, which I took the time to download and sort today.  Included in this list are items both ubiquitous and arcane, but they all will cost us more to fund Obamacare.  Some examples:
  • Dentures, both partial and full (Class VI)
  • Fetal cell-screening kit (Class IV)
  • Female condoms, single use (Class III)
  • Treponemal syphilis test (Class IV)
  • HIV saliva test kit (Class IV)
  • Patient data storage and transmission software (Class VI)
  • Stair-climbing wheelchair (Class III)
  • Inflatable penis prosthetic (Class III)
  • Hip, knee, ankle, breast prosthetics (Class III)
  • Soft contact lenses, extended wear (Class III)
  • IUDs (Class III)
  • Dialysis catheters (Class III)
  • Dental X-rays (Class II)
  • Sickle-cell anemia tests (Class II)
  • Mammograms (Class II)
And so on.  Those Class II items are presumably costlier than $100, although the FDA does not have pricing lists for them.
Some of these items are explicitly counterproductive.  For instance, all dialysis gets funded by Medicare under its ESRD program.  Imposing taxes on dialysis catheters will only increase the cost to the government for dialysis patients, which already exceeds $9300 per month per patient.  Also, the administration keeps talking about saving costs through the use of digital technology for storing patient records, but this tax will make it more expensive than otherwise for providers to comply.
Every time our health-care providers have to use these items, they will pay more for them — and pass that cost onto us.  We may see that less directly thanks to the removal of the tampon tax, but the thousands of other items needed for our care will cost us more.  We need to understand the scope of this tax before it breaks our backs.

Spreadsheet of medical devices in these tax increases

Phony Violence Claims - The Underground Conservative

House Democrat Leader Steny Hoyer is all up in arms.
Hoyer claims that members of his caucus have received death threats and other threats of violence as a result of their votes for ObamaCare.
The Maryland Democrat said more than 10 House Democrats have reported incidents of threats or other forms of harassment about their support of the highly divisive health insurance overhaul vote. Hoyer emphasized that he didn’t have a specific number of threats and that was just an estimate.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, Capitol Police and sergeant at arms briefed Democrats behind closed doors today about the incidents of violence — the most high profile of which have been toward Democratic Reps. Thomas Perriello of Virginia, Steve Driehaus of Ohio and Louise Slaughter of New York.
Of course, in his view, it’s Tea Party protesters that are behind it, whipped up by talk radio and conservative bloggers and encouraged by Republicans in Congress. He thinks the GOP should do more to get these people to stand down:
Hoyer hinted that Republicans should do more to condemn these threats of violence.
“I would hope that we would join together jointly and make it very clear that none of us condone this kind of activity,” Hoyer told reporters. “And when we see it, we speak out strongly in opposition to it. And I would hope that we would do that going forward.”
Much like the infamous spitting incident and alleged shouting of racial slurs at Rep. John Lewis (Statist-GA) and homosexual slurs at Rep. Bawney Fwank (Statist-Mass.), which all turned out to be hoaxes documented on video as such, there’s no evidence any of these threats actually occurred, let alone that Tea Party protesters were behind them.
Hate Crime Hoax, Democrats/Media fabricate fictional account of racial slurs and spitting.

This story is a complete fabrication Rep. Barney Frank says he was called a “faggot” and two black Reps say they heard anti-black racial slurs. One black congressman says he was spit on.

However, the entire event was captured on multiple video cameras and none of the video supports any of the claims. In fact, all of the Congressman had armed security and anyone spitting on a congressman would have been immediately arrested.

Folks you see this is where my bullshit detector kicks into overdrive. Ask yourself why did these black lawmakers (AND ONLY BLACK LAWMAKERS) walk into what appeared to be a hornets nest horrible racist white protesters. How come other white lawmakers did not walk with them? Was their no white secret service or other white law enforcement personnel available?
I means seriously people this was clearly staged. I swear that Democrats are the most deceitful pricks on the planet.

Call Off the Race Hustlers… The Black Caucus Members Lied - First Things

On Saturday the leftist media reported on a horrible story from their sources at the anti-military Jew-hating conservative-hating Huffington Post. The media claimed that members of the Congressional Black Caucus were called n*ggers and spat on by tea party protesters as they walked from the Longworth office building to the Rayburn office building. At least one report said that it was “a chorus” of racist hatred. Reporters from ABC, CBS, CNN, FOX News, (including Bill O’Reilly), MSNBC, etc. reported on this horrible story.
Unfortunately, it was a fake. They had no evidence… Nothing. It was totally made up.
In fact, a video was later released that proved that there was no “chorus” of racist hatred and no one screamed the n-word. It was all a lie.
Several people filmed the entire episode and could not find any evidence of racist hate.

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-IL) even filmed the entire episode.

He found nothing.

Dan Riehl reported:
There’s some higher resolution video below I hadn’t seen before. Unlike what was claimed during recent Tea Party protests in Washington, DC, it would appear Cleaver was simply walking close by in front of a protester. The protester’s hands were cupped as he was shouting. While it appears Cleaver may have experienced a spraying of sorts as a result of the yelling, it does not support a conclusion that he was intentionally spat upon, as claimed.

This is almost like some sort of pre-cognition movie

A flood of lawsuits from states seeking to block the health care law President Obama signed this week raises sharp questions about the power of the federal government to impose mandates on its citizens, but legal scholars disagree about how the cases will be decided if they are heard by the Supreme Court.

The question falls squarely on centuries-old constitutional debates about the reach of the federal government in state affairs. Legal scholars on the right contend requiring citizens to obtain health insurance is a case of excessive federal intrusion and should be overturned by the judicial branch, while liberal judicial experts say Washington’s power to require that Americans buy insurance is clearly permitted under commerce and taxation provisions in the constitution.
First, if they actually cared about the Constitution, they wouldn’t support this massive increase in the size and scope, the power over American lives, of this legislation.

12 Taxes in Health Care Law Violate Obama’s Pledge Not to Increase Taxes on Households Earning Less than $250,000 - CNS News

As many as a dozen taxes in the new health care law violate President Barack Obama’s campaign pledge not to raise taxes on families earning less than $250,000 and on individuals earning less than $200,000.

At least seven of these taxes directly affect health consumers regardless of income, such as the individual mandate to buy insurance, the employer mandate, the tanning tax, and limits and penalties on health savings accounts. In addition, Republicans argue that the tax impact of the law should include indirect taxes, such as the annual taxes on the health care sector that will be passed on to consumers.

On many occasions during the 2008 presidential campaign, candidate Barack Obama pledged that, if elected, he would ensure that Americans earning less than $250,000 a year would not see a federal tax increase of any kind.

“I can make a firm pledge. Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increases,” the Illinois senator told a crowd in Dover, N.H. on Sept. 12, 2008. “Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes.”

Get Ready For The National Sales Tax As ObamaCare Makes It More Attractive For Businesses To Stop Growing - Flopping Aces
Watch this excellent rundown of ObamaCare by Krauthammer and see what the results will be within the next year. It’s a little less than 5 minutes but well worth your time:

Krauthammer: The big picture I think is that within the 12 months we’re going to have a raging national debate on something I think no one has talked about and that is a national sales tax.

Yup….as soon as the supposed “savings” and “deficit reductions” of ObamaCare are proven to be false, which will be sooner rather than later, the taxes will come our way. Something we have been warning about for some time and something which will slow our economy down even more and thus will begin the cycle we might very well have to get used to unless we throw as many Socialist Democrats out of office this November.

AGAIN...The question of the day is will you continue to ignore the threat of liberalism?

Mobs (of black youths in Philadelphia) Are Born as Word Grows by Text Message

So called flash mobs have taken a more aggressive and raucous turn here as hundreds of teenagers have been converging downtown for a ritual that is part bullying, part running of the bulls: sprinting down the block, the teenagers sometimes pause to brawl with one another, assault pedestrians or vandalize property. On Wednesday, the police here said that they had had enough. They announced plans to step up enforcement of a curfew already on the books, and to tighten it if there is another incident. They added that they planned to hold parents legally responsible for their children’s actions.

Wait!! I thought that young Negro thuggery was to disappear because Lord Obama the Negro prince was president. I thought that Negro children were going to attend class, get off drugs, and stop downing 40’s before class.

Remember this...

"How Do You Know If White People Really Like You or Not"

I received an interesting e-mail. This is from a new reader white individual who has been peeping MNW for a month or so.
I was asked how do you know if white people really like you or not?

This was partly in response to the following I posted yesterday:

I have been around a number of white people that I KNEW did not like nor accept me they simply smiled and tried to be polite. I am under no delusions that to a number of average white people I’m just a nigger, I’ve been given that “oh shit he’s a nigger” look more times than I can count and my political opinions are based on substance and not on emotion and old Negro self loathing.
I have a pretty decent read of people, the same principals of human interaction applies whether it is a white person meeting a black person for the first time or two white women… or women in general or two of whatever.

Many whites have complained that black people tend to go about their day with a chip on their shoulder and that they are hypersensitive to how people react to them which in turn causes white people to appear standoffish or defensive.

From my standpoint as a black man frankly it is much more obvious. The ambivalence some white folks have about blacks are engrained in the soul.
One individual old white gentleman the first time I went to his home for dinner upon arriving at the front door he was sitting in an easy chair he did not even bother to get up from his chair to greet me. In fact the first several encounters this individual never even shook my hand. From that time on I had nothing but contempt for him but I suppressed my anger for years.

I have been to so many gatherings where I was the only black individual than I can count but people who are genuine will go out of their way to make you feel welcomed, I’m not talking about being fake and overly enthusiastic just simply genuine and accepting.
I’ve been to so-called family gatherings where folks would barely acknowledge my existence. Now I do come across as someone who typically does not give a shit what people think of me but I will admit in so many instances I was honestly hurt and that hurt affected my attitude going forward.

When I got my first civilian job after my departure from the Air Force initially most of the whites (outside of my department) I worked around were cold and distant.
Now the individuals in my department (mostly women) were wonderful and incredible.
These were women who were off the charts smart and accomplished. Now my boss the director of the department was a black woman, also very smart also was an Army colonel and insisted on surrounding herself with smart people.
The women of this department treated me like their son but as all would convey to me as time went on they respected me because I was good at my job these people were not about judging me on the color of my skin but rather on my character and job performance.
Eventually because of my accomplishments both on the job and in the community I earned the respect of individuals up the food chair right up to the CEO of the health system. They knew me on a first name basis, it was in this environment (I’m still in my mid 20’s) that I learned that “not all white people are out to get me and screw me over.”
Truth be told I learned that even as a young child. I talked about in my little essay The Snoop Chronicles about how I lived in the white world on some occasions and in the black world too. I was always greeted far warmer in white households than in black households, in fact many of the parents of my black friends I never even conversed with. Frankly they did not give a shit about their own kids much less the friends of their kids.

Were their racial issues growing up oh sure, I talked about one time being told my friends birthday party was cancelled because the dad clearly did not like black people and he damn sure did not wan this little Negro kid socializing with his daughter. I’ve experienced the “don’t want a Nigger dating my daughter” look a lot in my life and unfortunately you simply learn to deal with it and accept it.

On some occasions I was made to wait outside by other racist white parents, I however use to marvel at how some of my friends would not harbor the racist tendencies of the parents but oddly enough as they got older they tended to distance themselves from me I’m sure out of peer pressure.

I use to be chastised by black kids about my hanging out with white kids but I did not give a shit, my bottom line is if you treat me well and with respect then you have a friend for life no matter what.
Frankly there are a lot of really nice people from my immediate past who were wonderful folks who I will miss dearly I knew that they truly cared about me and accepted me but new circumstances of course dictate new friendships and relationships.

I’ve thought about this “how do you know when white people hate you” thing quite often, I never know if categorizing it as a specific racial component was even logical.
What I mean is can’t someone simply like or not like you based on just YOU and not your skin color. Well when you are almost always the minority in a given situation you can’t help but to categorize it.

I have mentioned a few times that I have noticed that some whites because of their dislike of Obama and what is going on are indeed letting some of their resentment bleed out.
Since I now must do more grocery shopping and interact with folks solo now oh believe me when I tell you that one more than a few occasions I get really fucked up looks from white folks, they won’t say excuse me, cashiers will greet some patrons but give me the silent treatment, that folks you can’t mistake. I don’t know if it is a sign that there is more racial hostility I’m just conveying what I experience. Now do these recent experiences change my attitude, not at all but you can’t help but notice.

Something else that shaped my perception of whites was my community involvement. I became a pretty well respected individual from many whites on all economic levels not simply because I was as some blacks might say “the token Negro” but many of these people who treated me with respect and warm regard was again they saw past my color and viewed me as an individual someone who at the time was working towards bettering my community, I was an individual who tried to tackle community issues and not “black” issues.

As I sat in board meetings of various entities I was surrounded by bank CEO’s, corporate executives from the likes of Ratheon, Learjet, Boeing, Koch Industries, political leaders you name it. Remember I was not a rich black man, nor did I have big business connections or a college pedigree I was viewed on my contributions and was respected as such. Bottom line white people with any measure of intelligence and sincerity look beyond race. It is ignorance and misunderstanding and frankly insecurity that lead to racial acrimony. The more uneducated or isolated the white person the more likely they are to hold on to racial bitterness. But let me tell you, this also applies to black folks or any other minority.

I am fortunate to work in an environment when I get to meet some of this nations most important and influential people. In meeting these people one thing is clear, particularly when it comes to the politicians they have learned to give everyone a warm greeting, a firm handshake and a smile, they look you in the eye and almost always say “nice to meet you” or “how are you doing.” Is this sincerity or a faked polished response to apply to all situations.

How can I tell if a white person likes me, by his or her actions, sincerity can’t be faked.

Those of you who take the time to spend a few moments here obviously do so because my craziness interests you… LOL!
You accept me for who I am good, bad, cranky, disagreeable, arrogant, and overly opinionated whatever and that is all you can ask from anyone.

But again I know no matter how conservative I profess myself to be, not even my intense disdain from Obama and Democrats to the most ardent racist political views be dammed, content of character be dammed, the fact I have never been to jail/prison who cares, not my work ethic, not my values whatever redeeming qualities you can squeeze out of this ball of flesh to some I’m nothing but a nigger and to be honest folks I can actually accept that. To me it is better to be called a nigger than to have someone pretend that I’m not one to my face and call me a nigger behind my back behind closed doors and be phony about it.

For me it boils down to how well do you like yourself and if you like yourself that translates to your other human interactions in a positive manner and eventually you worry less and less about whether white people or anyone else likes you or not.

I hope this made sense… kind of a spontaneous afternoon post while multitasking…
