FEMA Denies Perry's Disaster Declaration Request

It's been about a month since Tropical Storm Hermine tore through North Texas. One of the hardest hit areas was a condominium complex in Arlington. The floodwater was so high, dozens of residents had to be rescued.

Because of this, Gov. Rick Perry asked the federal government to issue a disaster declaration for 13 Texas counties, including Tarrant and Denton. On Sunday, Perry learned that the request was denied.

The floodwaters have receded, but many residents still wonder what will happen to their homes.

Jennifer Fowler had lived in her condo for the past 12 years. In fact, she recently invested thousands of dollars in new flooring and an air conditioning unit. Now, Jennifer, her husband and three children feel as though they're homeless.

"My parents had to take in my husband and we have three kids, so we're all packed in at their house," she said. "We've had a lot of days where we cry, a lot of days where we argue because everything is up in the air," Jennifer said.

Jennifer didn't have insurance, and just learned she and her neighbors won't receive any help from the federal government.
Several members of Congress who represent the areas affected by Hermine sent a letter to President Obama supporting Perry's request for a federal declaration.

Rep. Michael Burgess, who represents Lewisville, said in a statement: "I am disappointed that the Obama Administration has refused to offer Texans the needed disaster declaration and assistance."

Obama: Republicans Counting On Blacks Staying Home...

Although idiot Obama has run the country into the proverbial financial ditch further driving black folks into economic chaos he now is going around the country begging black folks to help Democrats get elected so they can screw them some more.

I’m sitting here trying to understand the mindset of someone who knowingly know that Obama is a worthless president and is responsible for you being broke and not having a job and you would still go out and listen to this ignorant bastard and vote AGAIN for the very people responsible for your financial dilemma, not to mention shitty school, crime and unwavering corruption.

Really Mr. and Mrs. Democrat? It was one thing to vote for this fool and those like him in 2008 because of misplaced euphoria but now that you know dude is fucked up please tell me you will not take your idiot asses to the voting booth and say “yes, I know things are fucked up but I don’t care, I want more of the same.” Really? Seriously?

Now will black folks likely do something that stupid, unfortunately yes… but to you supposedly reasonable white folks, c’mon… Democrats… massive spending, stimulus, government health care… you want more of this?

Seven Reasons Barack Obama Should Apologize to America - Townhall

By John Hawkins

Barack Obama is a petty little man whose grandiose sense of self importance has always far outstripped his abilities and accomplishments. Putting a man such as that in the most important job on the planet is like taking a five year old off an airplane ride at a carnival and putting him at the control of a jet airplane in mid-flight.

Obama, who was so far over his head that he couldn't see the surface from day one, took over the country at a crucial time and then boldly strode forth and made the situation dramatically worse. His whole presidency, from start to finish, has been the living embodiment of that famous Talleyrand quote:

They have learned nothing and forgotten nothing.
The rest of America, however, has learned quite a bit about Obama, which is why his approval rating has fallen like a stockbroker on Black Friday. At this point, not only should Barack Obama change course, he should apologize for what he's done wrong:

1) For lying to the American people: Calling a politician a liar is a bit like accusing a fish of being fond of water, but even amongst politicians, Barack Obama is a particularly hamfisted and prolific liar. Obama's strategy is simple: He promises everything to everybody and then points the finger elsewhere when people are inevitably disappointed. This has led to some jaw dropping whoppers than would even make Bill Clinton say, "Wow, that guy is a shameless liar."

How Obama is invading your home - NY Post

The Obama administration isn't satis fied giving the American public vast things we don't want — from stimu lus packages to bailouts to ObamaCare: It's a small-scale nuisance, too — witness its attempt to redesign home appliances.

In the pipeline are dumb regulations for almost everything that plugs in or fires up in your home.

Just weeks after taking office, the president ordered the Energy Department to speed up the process of issuing harsh new energy-efficiency standards for appliances. Since then, the agency boasts, it "has issued or codified new efficiency standards for more than 20 different products," and still more are on the way.

These regulations are sure to raise the price of appliances — often by more than consumers are ever likely to earn back in the form of energy savings. And some will make the product perform well.

The administration is meddling with every room in the house...

With the exception of core Obama Administration loyalists, most politically engaged elites have reached the same conclusions: the White House is in over its head, isolated, insular, arrogant and clueless ...

For Democrats, Even ‘Safe’ Seats Are Shaky - NY Times via Real Clear Politics

ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio — Republicans are expanding the battle for the House into districts that Democrats had once considered relatively safe, while Democrats began a strategy of triage on Monday to fortify candidates who they believe stand the best chance of survival.

As Republicans made new investments in at least 10 races across the country, including two Democratic seats here in eastern Ohio, Democratic leaders took steps to pull out of some races entirely or significantly cut their financial commitment in several districts that the party won in the last two election cycles.

Representatives Steve Driehaus of Ohio, Suzanne M. Kosmas of Florida and Kathy Dahlkemper of Pennsylvania were among the Democrats who learned that they would no longer receive the same infusion of television advertising that party leaders had promised. Party strategists conceded that these races and several others were slipping out of reach.

Schakowsky explains Constitutional basis of ObamaCare - Hot Air

At least Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) gives it a few tries.  First she argued “If we can build national highways,” but Adam Sharp noted that the Constitution does include the authority to build interstate “post roads.”  Next, Schakowsky says enacting civil-rights legislation creates some sort of odd precedent, even though those acts existed to enforce the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments of the Constitution.  Schakowsky gives it one last try on Medicare and Social Security, even though the former is voluntary and the latter is an explicit government program (albeit also of dubious Constitutional authority).  There exists no Constitutional reference to force Americans to buy a private product, and Schakowsky winds up walking away:

Americans Think Federal Government Has Too Much Power - USA Today

WASHINGTON — Americans are having a crisis of confidence in their government.
A majority in a new USA TODAY/Gallup Poll disapprove of the jobs President Obama and Congress are doing and have unfavorable views of both major political parties. Only half express even a fair amount of trust and confidence in the people who hold or are running for public office. Just one in four are satisfied with the way the nation is being governed.

Meanwhile, six in 10 Americans say the government has too much power, and nearly half agree with this alarming statement: "The federal government poses an immediate threat to the rights and freedom of ordinary citizens."

Profligate Congress needs to read its own bills - Washington Examiner

There’s a scene in “Fahrenheit 911,” left-wing filmmaker Michael Moore’s mostly forgotten 2004 tirade against George W. Bush, that some of today’s unhappy voters might recognize.

Moore was angry that Congress passed the Patriot Act so quickly that some lawmakers hadn’t read the whole bill. So Moore went to Democratic Rep. John Conyers for an explanation.

“How could Congress pass this Patriot Act without even reading it?” Moore asked.

“Sit down, my son,” Conyers said, lowering his voice as if to reveal a trade secret. “We don’t read most of the bills. Do you really know what that would entail, if we were to read every bill that we passed?”

Years have passed, and we’re in a completely different political environment today. But there is still no single complaint about Congress that resonates more with voters than the charge that lawmakers do not read the bills they vote on. How can they enact far-reaching legislation that touches almost every part of American life without even knowing what they’re passing?

New York Violating MOVE Act - Amy Proctor

New York is violating the MOVE Act (Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment Act) which ensures military serving overseas get their absentee ballots at least 45 days before an election. This blue Democratic state is trying to steal the election in NY by depriving NY soldiers serving overseas their right to vote.
And the communist appointees in Obama’s Department of inJustice are facilitating this.
More than one week after its extended deadline, New York still hasn’t mailed out absentee ballots to all its 320,000 military servicemen and women and overseas voters, in clear violation of the MOVE Act, FoxNews.com has learned.

According to the 2009 MOVE Act, a state must send out its military and overseas ballots 45 days prior to elections.

New York was granted a waiver to this deadline by the Department of Justice and given an additional 15 days — until October 1 — to send out all its ballots.

Harry Reid strongly opposed illegal immigration. In 1993.

Harry Reid weighs in on illegal immigration and “anchor babies” in 1993

...I wish the statements I have been making were some kind of a nightmare or dream, an aberration. But they are true. But they do not stop. Not only do we admit more than these 100,000 people each year without knowing who they are or why they came, we actually give them all the documents they need to simply disappear into our society.

I live in a suburb of Washington. It is near the CIA. There, if you drive down Dolley Madison Boulevard, people have placed there a little memorial for the people who were gunned down earlier this year by a man by the name of Mir Amil Kanzi, a Pakistani citizen. He entered the United States illegally, lived here for a year as an illegal alien, obtained a new passport from the government he claimed to fear, and yet he was still able to show up at an INS office in Virginia and file a claim of political asylum. Was this guy given a quick hearing and sent home? No. He got work authorization, a social security card, a driver's license, and the ability to obtain an AK-47 assault rifle and gun down CIA workers.

We hear from the American people when they appear in Town Hall meetings, [*S11998] or when students at universities and high schools all over this country write to us. They are not imagining things. They are not, as some apologists for the status quo contend, trying to blame immigrants for their problems. They are simply recognizing facts. America's immigration policies are in a shambles, and they should be fixed, and we can no longer ignore them.
