Obama Funnies...

Tea Party Fundraising Email Shows Obama As Pimp

A Tea Party group whose founder already has been in hot water for holding a sign that referred to taxpayers as "niggars" has doubled down on racist appeals.

TeaParty.org, a Houston-based group founded by Dale Robertson, yesterday sent an email fund-raising solicitation, obtained by TPMmuckraker, headlined "Obama Pimping Obama-Care, One Last Time!"

The email goes on to explain that Democrats still plan to pass health-care reform despite Scott Brown's win in Massachusetts. It asks readers to send faxes to Congress, and to donate to TeaParty.org. And it contains an exhortatory quote from Robertson, identified as the group's "President/Founder": "I am greatly encouraged with the progress of the Tea Party, but our work has just begun!"

After a photograph emerged of Robertson holding a sign that referred to taxpayers as "niggars," Houston Tea Party activists distanced themselves from him. The photo later appeared on his own site, with the offensive message photoshopped out (you can see the photoshopped image at the top of this post).

Robertson recently complained that the RNC hadn't returned his calls. This latest move probably won't help.

What Caused Our Economic Crisis?

OBAMA'S ACORN EXPOSED PART 1 OF 2

OBAMA'S ACORN EXPOSED PART 2 OF 2

What if Obama gave a State of the Black Union address? And other news from the Black Hand Side...

Tonight President Obama will and should address his first State of the Union speech to all Americans, regardless of race. But, it would be intriguing and edifying to imagine what a speech specifically addressed to African-Americans might sound like, especially since blacks are arguably bearing the worst brunt of our ongoing economic downturn. The text below is the speech I believe many of Obama's black supporters wish he would give.

My fellow African-Americans: I address you as both the President of the United States, and as black leader with a serious commitment to the advancement of the African-American community. Given that roughly one-quarter of my political support in the 2008 election came from African-Americans, I owe it to my community to specifically address the concerns of people of color. No longer will you give me a dollar's worth of loyalty in exchange for a nickel's worth of attention. Your issues are now on the table.

This was a difficult year for all of us. Black unemployment has regularly exceeded 15 percent, and black male unemployment is now over 50 percent in urban areas, such as New York City. When America was hit with an economic storm, black America was pummeled by a financial tsunami.

Large urban centers like Detroit have become virtual wastelands, due to the massive loss of manufacturing jobs. The automobile industry has been decimated, and in spite of my efforts to save these manufacturers, black Americans have still seen an unprecedented level of economic hardship. The Great Black Depression has been painful for us all.

In response to this highly unique set of economic circumstances, I am announcing a special task force that will analyze the employment gap for African-Americans. I will give this task force as much power as the ones designed to save the automobile and banking industries. We will analyze the devastating impact of bank foreclosures, which have hit the African-American community at a rate which dramatically exceeds that of the rest of America. We will even study the wealth gap, which has long been a damning reminder of America's history of slavery. We will finally make concrete progress on finding ways to fulfill Dr. Martin Luther King's dream of producing true economic equality throughout our great nation.

We've all shed tears for those who've lost their loved ones in the recent Haitian earthquakes. We are also well-aware that Haiti was an economic hell-on-earth long before the quakes rattled its shores. Sadly enough, much of this devastation has been at the hands of imbalanced and fundamentally biased policies of the United States government.

Ending 'Don't Ask Don't Tell' will be a teachable moment for black America

Census data show black women with same-sex partners serve in the military at 11 times the rate of women overall. The Pentagon reports black women are discharged under "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" at three times the rate that they serve. Black lesbians in the military are often mothers, the discharge means unemployment, loss of health care benefits for children, this is a real threat to the black family.

Black gay men aren't far behind in terms of discrimination. Platoon leaders such as Lt. Anthony Woods, a black gay Harvard and West Point grad, were discharged once their sexuality was discovered. Woods led a 64-soldier combat unit in Iraq and earned a Bronze Star. Woods ran for Congress last year. He didn't win, but appeared on national television and inspired countless young black gay men who rarely see themselves on such a platform.

From the blog Skeptical Brotha - President Obama: Dazed and Confused

Embracing his inner Jimmy Carter, President Obama revealed a heretofore hidden personality yesterday: deficit hawk. Green eyeshade firmly affixed, the president has the audacity to believe that his proposed $477 billion dollar spending freeze in the middle of the deepest recession in more than twenty-five years is something that will work. It never has. He coulda asked President Carter. Better yet he coulda looked in the mirror and asked himself. Candidate Obama campaigned against John McCain’s spending freeze.

To the consternation of many, President Carter insisted on spending cuts to domestic discretionary programs as unemployment remained stubbornly high. Like Obama, he had an electoral mandate that he squandered and Democratic majorities in both houses that he wasted. He produced no lasting domestic policy accomplishments and presided over a large defense buildup that Reagan continued and took credit for. Ideologically, President Obama, like Jimmy Carter, has been all over the map and it’s hard to keep track.

Obama was against the war in Iraq and then took office and escalated the war in Afghanistan. He railed against the greed on Wall Street and proposed a targeted tax on the banks, but facilitated the bailout of the worst hedge fund speculators and the unconscionable greed of investment banker con artists. He has done next to nothing to confiscate or put the breaks on record bonuses and payouts to the banksters as they tighten credit to small businesses and profess a let them eat cake attitude to the victims of their predatory loan schemes.

NAACP Embezzlement Case Leads to Charges Being Filed

A former executive for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) was charged in Fulton County, Ga. for embezzling organizational funds. Judith W. Hanson and her former assistant, Sandra Douglass, are accused of embezzling $275,000 from the organization and using the money for their personal expenses. The alleged embezzlement took place over a six-year period and was discovered by an internal investigation, according to police. "Any malfeasance at whatever level is not tolerated by the NAACP," said Rev. Amos Brown. "But we do feel that this great organization should not be punished in the eyes of the public because of the actions of these two individuals."

TIMEOUT! To be blunt this organization is a joke. The NAALCP (Liberal Colored People) Politically and socially irrelevant, useless and woefully outdated, the members still consist of tired old Negros my dads age who act as puppets for Democrat candidates and they do nothing more than social activities like dances and white linen parties (fancy Negro parties, it’s a black thang)

All the NAALCP is good for nowadays is stir the pot and try to incite anger and hostility between the races an organized extension of the likes of Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.

With all the issues I dealt with in my community activist days the NAALCP never once lifted a hand to do shit. When I was working on an issue to alleviate illegal dumping in the black community they did not do shit. When I was working on the school desegregation task force to help reduce the burden on black children when it came to bussing and minority school quotas they did not do shit.

While working on my clinic project I mentioned in my Snoop Chronicles they did not contribute one fucken dime to the project, a project that directly benefited black folks.

The only time you hear from this Negro minstrel organization is when they offer up some bullshit statement protecting the likes of Michael Vick or bitching about some nonsensical issue like Don Imus or eliminating the “N” word from some community.
They never tackle issues like job creation, crime; education because these mutherfuckers are still stuck in the 60’s waiting for the reincarnation of another MLK.

While the black community suffers these parasites somehow still raise money to do useless shit like throw Hennessey drink fests.

Sorry folks… reading this article drudged up some old anger… almost nothing pissed me off more than useless ass Negros and useless ass Negro organizations.

President-Elect Barack ObamaOn “This Week” with George Stephanopoulos January 11, 2009

Michelle Obama didn’t want to come off too glitzy at her hubby’s SOTU Address on Wednesday so she settled on an $1850 frock by Isaac Mizrahi.Kristann reported:

First Lady Michelle Obama evinces no concern for the tens of millions of Americans suffering the consequences of her husband’s failing economic policies as she is once again seen flaunting her Imelda Marcos taste in ridiculously expensive designer clothers.
Women’s Wear Daily reported today that Michelle Obama wore a dress that retails for $1850 to the State of the Union address given by her husband, Barack Obama, on Wednesday night.
Last week, the White House featured as the ‘photo of the day’ a picture of Michelle Obama wearing a $2763 designer coat with matching dress of unknown cost and $850 custom made designer boots.
During the Obama’s $4000 per day Christmas vacation, Michelle Obama was photographed wearing a $635 pair of designer shoes. A recent study of five pairs of designer shoes worn last year by Michelle Obama showed an average price of $700 per pair.

Racial threat puts Ohio college on alert, on edge

NELSONVILLE, Ohio (AP) - An attacker could find many places to hide at Hocking College, a campus carved into a forest in the Appalachian foothills. And with the threat of a mass killing looming over black students at the community college, Allen Edwards is steering clear of the trees.

"I don't feel too safe walking by the woods," said Edwards, a 19-year-old black student from Canton. "There's woods everywhere. And somebody could be out in them, and I don't know."

The FBI is investigating a threat scrawled last week on a bathroom wall warning that black students would be killed Feb. 2. It bore the trademarks of just another casual—though chilling—threat of violence on a college campus, but students here aren't taking any chances.

At least two black students have withdrawn permanently from school out of fear for their safety, and another dozen have moved out of the dorm where the threat was found, officials at the two-year technical college said. Some students seem unperturbed, but others say the threat has brought simmering racial tensions to the surface.

Morning Reads: Health Care for Illegals, Green Stuff, Obama Girl Crushed!

Catholic Bishops Lobby for ObamaCare, Amnesty for Illegals - AIM

The religious left, led by the Catholic Bishops, may represent the only way that liberals in Congress can ultimately succeed in passing ObamaCare.

Calling health care a "right" to be guaranteed by the federal government, America's Catholic Bishops are trying to save ObamaCare at a time when the legislation has been pronounced in limbo, dying or dead by most of the media.
The evidence of intensive Catholic Bishop lobbying activity suggests that liberal Congressional leaders are going to give the legislation a temporary respite so that liberal Catholics can be persuaded to pressure Congress to pass both national health care legislation and "comprehensive immigration reform" in the form of H.R. 4321, the "Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America's Security and Prosperity" Act.
As AIM has documented, lobbying by the Catholic Bishops and their representatives, who worked closely with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, guaranteed passage of the health care bill in the House.

In a January 13 conference call and briefing, Kevin Appleby, a representative of the U.S. Catholic Bishops, explained in frank language why the Bishops are so desperate to pass the health care and immigration bills. He said that the Bishops want a federal health plan to absorb the costs being borne by the nation's 600 Catholic hospitals to cover illegal aliens.
Appleby said, "We have Catholic hospitals throughout the country that experience the same things that Alan was describing and we serve undocumented immigrants in our emergency rooms and community clinics, etc. So we have a stake in this in that the burden will fall not just on our providers but as Alan described, taxpayers throughout the country."

This was one of the clearest indications yet that support for national health care legislation is a means by which the Bishops can dump some of the costs of operating Catholic hospitals on the American taxpayers..

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - IdleAire - a Knoxville-based company praised as offering a green technology option to long-haul truck drivers has closed its doors.

The Knoxville News Sentinel reported the shut-down of IdleAire on Thursday left 315 people without jobs - 60 of them in Knoxville.

IdleAire provided heat, air conditioning, electrical outlets, Internet link, telephone and cable television connections through a console that attached to truck window openings, allowing drivers to turn off their engines at truck stops.

A statement from the company said IdleAire officials were disappointed the company was forced to cease operations.

IdleAire was owned by six investment management companies who were unable to find a buyer for its assets after the company filed for bankruptcy protection May 12.

Does Mr. Obama really get it? - Waterbury Republican-American - Editorial

Vinny Gambini: "I think ... I get ... the point."

Judge Chamberlain Haller:" No, I don't think you do."

— Dialogue from "My Cousin Vinny."

Did President Obama get the point? With their ballots, the people of Virginia, New Jersey and Massachusetts have told him in no uncertain terms they are deeply dissatisfied with him and members of Congress.

To them and a solid majority of Americans, "Washington" is shorthand for all that's wrong with America. The people are fed up with the rancor, partisanship, gridlock, empty promises and childishness that have stained their government. They are alarmed by D.C.'s lack of common sense and decency. They are outraged by the rampant corruption: the bribes, the personal enrichment and the quid pro quos. They are offended by the deception and secrecy. They are frightened by the increasing softness of the government's antiterrorism policy, especially the granting of constitutional rights to jihadists bent on America's destruction. They are panicked by how large government has grown, how voracious its spending appetite has become and how deeply in debt their leaders have driven the nation, and how little Congress and the president care. And they absolutely have had it with their chief magistrate's refusal to own the nation's fiscal and economic crises, and to admit to all he and his Democratic cohorts have done to prolong and exacerbate them.

But did Mr. Obama get the point?

On the rhetorical, Clintonian, tell-them-what-they-want-to-hear level, he does. In his State of the Union address, he said he has listened to Americans' grievances — "No wonder there's so much cynicism out there. No wonder there's so much disappointment."

His address, however, also made it plain he hasn't heard a word.

Mr. Obama doubled-down his socialist agenda of Obamacare, the cap-and-trade/global warming bill, and job security for unionized government employees and contractors. He promoted further runaway spending, the further punitive use of the tax code and the further abuse of government powers. In calling for more cooperation in Washington, he ratcheted up the combative, partisan rhetoric. He trotted out once more the empty promises of his 2008 campaign. He struck again his pacifist/appeasement tone on national security and terrorism. And he exhibited an almost cruel tone-deafness to the severe beating the recession, high unemployment, widespread job insecurity and the putrefaction of politics have inflicted on the American psyche.

Mr. Obama didn't get the point. Rather, he vowed anew that as long as he and his party hold congressional majorities, he will exploit them to inflict as much socialism and economic and fiscal misery on America as possible.

Election Day is Nov. 2.

Time's Joe Klein Loved Obama Attack on GOP and 'Its House Demagogues on Fox News' - Newsbusters

At the Swampland blog, Time’s Joe Klein expressed delight at Obama’s State of the Union address as a "terrific performance." He was especially thrilled at all the partisan attacks on the GOP:

[H]e stuck the needle time and again into the hides of the recalcitrant elephants in the room....Even a lapidary line like, "Now let's clear a few things up..." was barbed, since it referred to the shameless distortions that the Republican Party – and its house demagogues on Fox News – had inflicted on the health care reform process.

At the same time, he made a series of proposals that Republicans should love – like a new generation of nuclear power and judicious offshore drilling, like a capital gains tax holiday for small businesses, free-trade deals with South Korea, Panama and Korea. We'll see if they're willing to take yes for an answer.

Obama Girl Tells Hannity 'At Least I Wasn't The Edwards Girl'

A sound bite too far - Powerline

During the oral argument in Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, Seth Waxman, the former Solicitor General of the United States who was representing John McCain and other campaign finance law sponsors, asserted that the plaintiffs' position was contrary to the thrust of more than 50 years of Supreme Court precedent. Justice Alito said that this argument -- or "sound bite," as he characterized it -- is "perplexing." He noted that the issue before the Court was merely the validity of two precedents that don't date back that far.

Justice Alito's concern turned out to be prescient when, in his State of the Union address, President Obama (Mr. Sound Bite, himself) claimed that the Supreme Court's decision in Citizens United "reversed a century of law to open the floodgates for special interests - including foreign corporations - to spend without limit in our elections." Even Waxman had not made this claim at oral argument, although Solicitor General Kagan and Justice Sotomayor threw the number 100 around in this connection.

Last night, Justice Alito reportedly responded to Obama's sound bite by quietly saying something like "that's not true." Alito was right at least two levels. First, as noted above and as Linda Greenhouse acknowledges, Citizens United did not disturb any principles that date back 100 years.

Second, as Shannen Coffin points out, the decision in Citizens United is quite clear that it does not address whether the government can regulate improper foreign influence over our electoral process. Writing for the majority, Justice Kennedy stated: "We need not reach the question whether the Government has a compelling interest in preventing foreign individuals or associations from influencing our Nation's political process." [note: Bradley Smith has more on this issue].

Obama... Worst President in History

Oooooo... FAN MAIL!!!
The worst we can become is a manifestation of our fear and insecurity, implanting them upon everything and anything around us. While you like to tout how provocative your magicnegrowatch.com blog is, it is none other than that manifestation.

To have a nagging distrust of liberals and summarily dismiss them, you shoot yourself in the foot (or, better, stick your head up your ass), for it is the liberal point of view that we ought to achieve better and not assume that what has been is what should continue to be that has led to the kind of liberty that lets a hateful, narrow-minded asshole like yourself have his own blog and legally spout his moronic rhetoric for all to see.

Not all liberals are alike anyway. Some of them love to see people like you descend to exhibiting the worst traits of human nature, all in the name of conservatism.

Keep up the good work.

Thinking Out Loud: Chris Matthews… Liberal Racism… Racism in General

Hang with me here folks… exercising demons here… lots on the brain...

Folks maybe it is my brooding mood today. Have you ever looking in the mirror and thought to yourself what the fuck have I done with my life… questioning the things you did, opportunities you missed decisions you made.

Right now I’m fighting the urge to immerse myself in a pool of resentment and anger.
It is because of this self loathing and brooding I find myself becoming more skeptical of the world around me, internalizing much of what I read and what I hear and even how I relate with folks.

Don’t get me wrong there are rays of sunshine dawning on the horizon I am hopeful that I will find what my soul is seeking and I am hopeful that the restlessness and uneasiness of my future will fade.
I know I need to pray more and be more forgiving and accepting of the realities around me but with my personality that is very difficult to do.
This is why I often ask myself whether or not I should concentrate so hard on what goes on in the political and social arena. However I soon realize that if I were to ignore what liberals and Democrats are doing to our society I would be doing myself a disservice.

This brings me to the Chris Matthews comment; I can’t stop thinking about it.
Chris Matthews on Obama State of the Union address: 'I forgot he was black'
To me this is even more insulting than the Harry Reid “negro dialect” comment. What’s worse is Matthews does not even realize just how racist his comments were.

Growing up I have been the lone Negro at many social gatherings and it was not until recently that I realized just how isolating a feeling it is.
For years I tried to ignore the uneasiness and the awkward feeling. Most times I handled it but I have such a keen sense of reading people and couple that with my obsessive processing tendencies and you have a really bad mix.
This is not to say that I have issues with white folks but in this age of Obama whether white folks like him or not I get a renewed sense of tension.

Recently as I went to various places like the grocery store, post office there have been several incidents where a white dude would hold a door open for another white person entering and when I came upon the door the individual would let go of the door.
When finishing scanning my items at a grocery store, the attending lady would offer a friendly “thank you and have a nice day to the white patrons” but then looked at me as if I pissed on her leg. I have been getting more strange and surly looks from people recently and I don’t get. Is it the fact that the president is black and he is fucking up the country that white people are taking out their frustrations on all black folks?

I can’t count the number of times in my life when around white people in an attempt to appear anti-racist well-intentioned white folks to say something like, “I don’t think of Gaius as black. I just think of him as a person.” Oh really?

I have chronicled the personal issues surrounding my soon to be ending marriage, my future former wife who is white tried her best to make me “comfortable” in numerous surroundings. She in many ways is empathic and I’m sure as someone who could read my emotions like a book felt as uncomfortable as I did in certain circumstances.
White women risk an awful lot by dating and marrying a black man. Isolation from friends and family and the obvious social stigma that still exists, I even avoided going to church with her because of this uneasiness. She being a hard core Catholic went to this one church that I found exceedingly white and stuffy.
Not to bash on any Catholics who may read this but I always found them very robotic. If you ever been to a mass and you look to the side everyone looks as if they are in detention, nobody smiles, nobody reacts, the movements are synchronized and at the end everyone files out without hardly saying a word to each other. Some if the see someone they know may offer a cursory wave and a smile but that is about it.
Go to a black church and everyone comes up to you and greets you.
I attended a Catholic church with a black congregation and it was very different, the people simply looked alive and moved by the service, I know this is a cultural thing but things you can’t ignore.

With the exception of the people with whom I work with, mostly young white folks I seem as if more and more people are simply tolerating my existence.
Remember folks I’m just projecting here… treat this like my personal therapy session you all are the proverbial fly on the wall.

Again as I think about Chris Matthews comment how many white folks I have been around have thought the same thing. Maybe this is why even to this day when folks I have conversed with on the phone when visiting almost always gives me the “oh shit he’s a Negro look” yes I know I have used this very tired phrase a lot but I don’t know how else to explain it to you.

All of these years I have tried to convince myself that I am more than a color, my character, my conscience, my state of being is more than just a darker skin pigmentation, but was I fooling myself?

In today’s world under a president Obama race is seeming affecting society like never before, why else would Chris Matthews make such a ridiculous comment.

Conservative Negros like me are in a real quandary. First we must resist the urge to join in with racist right wingers who circulate racist Obama pictures and jokes these people obviously ignorant of the fact that when they insult Obama purely on the basis of his skin shade that also insult me. It’s one thing to chastise Obama on his politics but to focus solely on his race as a means of demeaning his is unacceptable and this comes from a person who dislikes Obama more than most of America.

On the flip side we must be vigilant of the ever present examples of liberal racist behavior.

I remember hearing long ago the quote “God save us from well-intentioned white people.” your classic liberal.
I have been around my share of these people, but the fact is I have never had a non-white person say to me, “When I look at you, Gaius, I don’t see a white person. I just see a person.” That’s because being white historically has not been associated with degradation, dehumanization, and denigration; being white does not make my humanity problematic. To see me as fully human, non-white people don’t have to strip away my whiteness, because whiteness is not assumed to be less than anything.

So, while no non-white person has to de-race white people to treat them as people, white people often take such de-racing to be evidence of having transcended racism. This clamor for color-blindness is another reflection of how far white America has to go in race relations. At this moment in history, being color-blind is a privilege available only to white people. Non-white people do not have the luxury of pretending that color can be ignored.

When a Negro is stopped on the street, he has to be conscious of what his color means to white police officers who may associate blackness with criminality.

When a Mexican woman interviews for a job, she has to be aware of how radicalized stereotypes about her sexuality might affect what the white man behind the desk is thinking about her.

And when Asian students are in classrooms, they have to understand how a white professor’s notion that Asians are all “good at math” will affect perceptions of them.

This is just one of many manifestations of white liberalism in the US. White people in general don’t have to worry about how their race affects the way most people in power treat them. We are able to walk through the world, except in isolated situations, without that burden.

When confronted with the realities of racism and white privilege, too many white people want to take the deceptive escape route of color blindness. But to be blind to color today is to be truly blind.

By Chris Matthews professing that “he forgot Obama was black for an hour” clearly indicates he was thinking about his blackness.
This is liberalism in a nutshell, liberals, who have always claimed to be the authoritative source of progressive attitudes on race, have actually become the center of racist thinking in America.

Liberals claim to be "sensitive, progressive and concerned," while in reality far too many of them truly do not believe that blacks are as smart as they are. In fact, their liberal orthodoxy cannot exist in a world where black folks no longer "need" their help.

Matthews comment further highlights how white liberals give lip service to the ideal of intellectual equality. When you scratch them, you find insecure people who need to "know" that blacks cannot compete with them on an equal footing. This is why liberals are the loudest supporters of "separate but lower" affirmative action admission standards.
Harry Reid, Chris Matthews still shocked when Negros have the ability to communicate effectively, never mind the fact the Obama is a lying sack of shit and you can believe anything he say…. sorry I got distracted….

So for individuals like myself what is worse, living in a world where certain people (seem to) accept you or people like Chris Matthews who engage in back handed complementary platitudes that continue to promote the notion that when a black individual is capable communicating without a Negro dialect it is somehow extraordinary.

I’ll freely admit that I have become hyper-sensitive to the issue. Maybe it is my recent stretch of stressful issues plaguing my life. I find myself over-processing everything, trying to refocus blame on others, lashing out at folks even those who love me.

I know that being less critical of the world around me will help my disposition.
I shall continue to work on not being so irritated at liberals, after all they do mean well. LOL!

It's OK for Liberals to Call Blacks the "N" Word
This segment from the Olbermann’s show, Garofalo states that “Black Repulicans suffer from Stockholm Syndrome” (particularly, Michael Steele) and then compares female Republicans to “Eva Braun” (Olbermann laughs along as she spews her bigotry). Yes ladies and gentlemen, you heard her correctly–Ms. Garofalo thinks that all black people should think alike, and if they don’t, then they are mentally ill. There’s a word for that–it starts with the letter R and ends with “acist”. Below is a hilarious video from the Fox News Show Red Eye which calls Garafalo out on her obvious bigotry.

PETA Rethinks Ads Comparing Abuse, Slavery
Associated Press Writer

August 13, 2005, 2:07 PM EDT

RICHMOND, Va. -- People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals is reconsidering a campaign comparing images of animal abuse with those of slavery after complaints from civil rights groups and others.

The animal rights group's "Animal Liberation" campaign included 12 panels juxtaposing pictures of black people in chains with shackled elephants and other provocative images.

The Norfolk-based group wrapped up the first leg of the tour in Washington on Thursday, visiting 17 cities before deciding to put the tour on hold.

"We're not continuing right now while we evaluate," said Dawn Carr, a PETA spokeswoman. "We're reviewing feedback we've received -- most of it overwhelmingly positive and some of it quite negative."

One panel showed a black civil rights protester being beaten at a lunch counter beside a photo of a seal being bludgeoned. Another panel, titled "Hanging," showed a graphic photo of a white mob surrounding two lynched blacks, their bodies hanging from tree limbs, while a nearby picture showed a cow hanging in a slaughterhouse.

Controversy erupted Aug. 8, when the display was in New Haven, Conn.

"There was one man who began shouting that the exhibit was racist," Carr said. "Then, there was a lot of shouting."

Carr said PETA used the shocking images to prove a point: Whether it's humans harming animals or each other, all point to an oppressive mind-set.

"PETA operates by getting publicity any way they can," said John White, an NAACP spokesman. "They're comparing chickens to black people?"

Mark Potok, director of the Intelligence Project with the Southern Poverty Law Center, in Montgomery, Ala., called the exhibit "disgusting."

"Black people in America have had quite enough of being compared to animals without PETA joining in," he said.

PETA officials apologized earlier this year for a campaign that compared the suffering of Jews during the Holocaust with that of factory animals.

The normally nonchalant Barack Obama looked nonplussed, as Nancy Pelosi glowered behind.
Surrounded by middle-aged white guys — a sepia snapshot of the days when such pols ran Washington like their own men’s club — Joe Wilson yelled “You lie!” at a president who didn’t.

But, fair or not, what I heard was an unspoken word in the air: You lie, boy!

I find it pretty damn amazing that a white limousine liberal like Dowd, who resides in a white liberal enclave where the majority of black residents tend to be live in help, is capable of hearing a racist slur where no one else did. These charges of manufactured racism being put forth by over zealous Obama defenders, is rapidly approaching a point where if someone finds Obama’s choice of necktie lacking, they could be construed as a fashionista racist.

Memo to Dowd: There is enough real racism in the world as it is; you are not helping anyone by making shit up!

Obama.... State of the Union… State of Shock

It’s Official Jimmy Carter in No Longer the Worst President in History

No I did not watch that clown ass and his SOTU address I can no longer listed to him talk for more than a minute because with every breath he takes he either lies, misstates or misrepresents the man just irritates the shit out of me.

So I scanned the web and the blog world to get reaction. I did watch a clip where he said that he has never been more “hopeful” about the future of the country, I’m thinking what will be hopeful is when you will exit your half black ass out of the White House.

Obama’s kind of a liar...

State of the Union Fact Check: AP Examines Some of Obama’s Claims - CNS News

A look at some of Obama's claims and how they compare with the facts:

------

OBAMA: "Starting in 2011, we are prepared to freeze government spending for three years. Spending related to our national security, Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security will not be affected. But all other discretionary government programs will. Like any cash-strapped family, we will work within a budget to invest in what we need and sacrifice what we don't."

THE FACTS: The anticipated savings from this proposal would amount to less than 1 percent of the deficit -- and that's if the president can persuade Congress to go along.

Obama is a convert to the cause of broad spending freezes. In the presidential campaign, he criticized Republican opponent John McCain for suggesting one. "The problem with a spending freeze is you're using a hatchet where you need a scalpel," he said a month before the election. Now, Obama wants domestic spending held steady in most areas where the government can control year-to-year costs. The proposal is similar to McCain's.

------

OBAMA: "I've called for a bipartisan fiscal commission, modeled on a proposal by Republican Judd Gregg and Democrat Kent Conrad. This can't be one of those Washington gimmicks that lets us pretend we solved a problem. The commission will have to provide a specific set of solutions by a certain deadline. Yesterday, the Senate blocked a bill that would have created this commission. So I will issue an executive order that will allow us to go forward, because I refuse to pass this problem on to another generation of Americans."

THE FACTS: Any commission that Obama creates would be a weak substitute for what he really wanted -- a commission created by Congress that could force lawmakers to consider unpopular remedies to reduce the debt, including curbing politically sensitive entitlements like Social Security and Medicare. That idea crashed in the Senate this week, defeated by equal numbers of Democrats and Republicans. Any commission set up by Obama alone would lack authority to force its recommendations before Congress, and would stand almost no chance of success.

------

OBAMA: Discussing his health care initiative, he said, "Our approach would preserve the right of Americans who have insurance to keep their doctor and their plan."

THE FACTS: The Democratic legislation now hanging in limbo on Capitol Hill aims to keep people with employer-sponsored coverage -- the majority of Americans under age 65 -- in the plans they already have. But Obama can't guarantee people won't see higher rates or fewer benefits in their existing plans. Because of elements such as new taxes on insurance companies, insurers could change what they offer or how much it costs. Moreover, Democrats have proposed a series of changes to the Medicare program for people 65 and older that would certainly pinch benefits enjoyed by some seniors. The Congressional Budget Office has predicted cuts for those enrolled in private Medicare Advantage plans.

------

OBAMA: The president issued a populist broadside against lobbyists, saying they have "outsized influence" over the government. He said his administration has "excluded lobbyists from policymaking jobs." He also said it's time to "require lobbyists to disclose each contact they make on behalf of a client with my administration or Congress" and "to put strict limits on the contributions that lobbyists give to candidates for federal office."

THE FACTS: Obama has limited the hiring of lobbyists for administration jobs, but the ban isn't absolute; seven waivers from the ban have been granted to White House officials alone. Getting lobbyists to report every contact they make with the federal government would be difficult at best; Congress would have to change the law, and that's unlikely to happen. And lobbyists already are subject to strict limits on political giving. Just like every other American, they're limited to giving $2,400 per election to federal candidates, with an overall ceiling of $115,500 every two years.

------

OBAMA: "Because of the steps we took, there are about 2 million Americans working right now who would otherwise be unemployed. ... And we are on track to add another one and a half million jobs to this total by the end of the year."

THE FACTS: The success of the Obama-pushed economic stimulus that Congress approved early last year has been an ongoing point of contention. In December, the administration reported that recipients of direct assistance from the government created or saved about 650,000 jobs. The number was based on self-reporting by recipients and some of the calculations were shown to be in error.

The Congressional Budget Office has been much more guarded than Obama in characterizing the success of the stimulus plan. In November, it reported that the stimulus increased the number of people employed by between 600,000 and 1.6 million "compared with what those values would have been otherwise." It said the ranges "reflect the uncertainty of such estimates." And it added, "It is impossible to determine how many of the reported jobs would have existed in the absence of the stimulus package."

------

OBAMA: He called for action by the White House and Congress "to do our work openly, and to give our people the government they deserve."

THE FACTS: Obama skipped past a broken promise from his campaign -- to have the negotiations for health care legislation broadcast on C-SPAN "so that people can see who is making arguments on behalf of their constituents, and who are making arguments on behalf of the drug companies or the insurance companies." Instead, Democrats in the White House and Congress have conducted the usual private negotiations, making multibillion-dollar deals with hospitals, pharmaceutical companies and other stakeholders behind closed doors. Nor has Obama lived up consistently to his pledge to ensure that legislation is posted online for five days before it's acted upon.

------

OBAMA: "The United States and Russia are completing negotiations on the farthest-reaching arms control treaty in nearly two decades."

THE FACTS: Despite insisting early last year that they would complete the negotiations in time to avoid expiration of the 1991 Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty in early December, the U.S. and Russia failed to do so. And while officials say they think a deal on a new treaty is within reach, there has been no breakthrough. A new round of talks is set to start Monday. One important sticking point: disagreement over including missile defense issues in a new accord. If completed, the new deal may arguably be the farthest-reaching arms control treaty since the original 1991 agreement. An interim deal reached in 2002 did not include its own rules on verifying nuclear reductions.

------

OBAMA: Drawing on classified information, he claimed more success than his predecessor at killing terrorists: "And in the last year, hundreds of al-Qaida's fighters and affiliates, including many senior leaders, have been captured or killed -- far more than in 2008."

THE FACTS: It is an impossible claim to verify. Neither the Bush nor the Obama administration has published enemy body counts, particularly those targeted by armed drones in the Pakistan-Afghanistan border region. The pace of drone attacks has increased dramatically in the last 18 months, according to congressional officials briefed on the secret program.

The All of the Above President - The American Spectator

By Philip Klein

Going into last night’s high-stakes State of the Union Address, the political world was wondering how President Obama would respond to a series of political setbacks that culminated with Republican Scott Brown’s surprise victory in last week’s Massachusetts Senate race.

Would he move to the center or try to rally his liberal base? Would he retreat from comprehensive health care legislation or dig in his heels? Would his tone be feisty or conciliatory?

As is often the case with Obama, the answer turned out to be: all of the above.

In a flatly-delivered, 70-minute speech, Obama made several nods to conservatives by talking tax and spending cuts, while at the same time refusing to abandon the liberal agenda items he outlined last year.

When it came to the economy, Obama endorsed many conservative criticisms of his policies. “[T]he true engine of job creation in this country will always be America's businesses,” he declared. He called for earmark reform. And in an affront to Keynesians who argue that deficit spending is necessary to boost an ailing economy, he said, “families across the country are tightening their belts and making tough decisions. The federal government should do the same.”

Yet he continued to talk up government spending as a means to spur economic growth, and called for a second stimulus bill.

Obama Lies About Lobbyists

Barack Obama said, "To close that credibility gap we must take action on both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue to end the outsized influence of lobbyists; to do our work openly; and to give our people the government they deserve.

"That's what I came to Washington to do. That's why -- for the first time in history -- my Administration posts our White House visitors online. And that's why we've excluded lobbyists from policy-making jobs or seats on federal boards and commissions."

Maybe this explains why his national security policies are so weak. He put William Lynn in the Pentagon as Deputy Defense Secretary. Mr. Lynn was a lobbyist for Defense Contractor Raytheon. I guess the Deputy Defense Secretary is not a policy-making job.

But it is not just Lynn.

Here are former lobbyists Obama has tapped for top jobs:

Eric Holder, attorney general nominee, was registered to lobby until 2004 on behalf of clients including Global Crossing, a bankrupt telecommunications firm [now confirmed].

Tom Vilsack, secretary of agriculture nominee, was registered to lobby as recently as last year on behalf of the National Education Association.

William Lynn, deputy defense secretary nominee, was registered to lobby as recently as last year for defense contractor Raytheon, where he was a top executive.

William Corr, deputy health and human services secretary nominee, was registered to lobby until last year for the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, a non-profit that pushes to limit tobacco use.

David Hayes, deputy interior secretary nominee, was registered to lobby until 2006 for clients, including the regional utility San Diego Gas & Electric.

Mark Patterson, chief of staff to Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, was registered to lobby as recently as last year for financial giant Goldman Sachs.

Ron Klain, chief of staff to Vice President Joe Biden, was registered to lobby until 2005 for clients, including the Coalition for Asbestos Resolution, U.S. Airways, Airborne Express and drug-maker ImClone.

Mona Sutphen, deputy White House chief of staff, was registered to lobby for clients, including Angliss International in 2003.

Melody Barnes, domestic policy council director, lobbied in 2003 and 2004 for liberal advocacy groups, including the American Civil Liberties Union, the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights, the American Constitution Society and the Center for Reproductive Rights.

Cecilia Munoz, White House director of intergovernmental affairs, was a lobbyist as recently as last year for the National Council of La Raza, a Hispanic advocacy group.

Patrick Gaspard, White House political affairs director, was a lobbyist for the Service Employees International Union.

Michael Strautmanis, chief of staff to the president’s assistant for intergovernmental relations, lobbied for the American Association of Justice from 2001 until 2005.
This doesn’t count Tom Daschle, who never registered as a lobbyist but got paid millions for his political connections in pursuit of preferential treatment for his clients in the health-care industry. MORE AT HOT AIR

CNN: Independents Tired of "Hope"/Health Care Talk

Last night, CNN did a focus group during the State of the Union Address, and it provided further evidence of the skepticism toward President Obama among independents. As always with focus groups, this needs to be taken with a grain of salt. But a few things worth noting in the video (WATCH HERE). First, whenever Obama mentioned "hope," independents reacted negatively, and during the health care portion of the speech, while the reaction meter for Democrats turned up, the reaction among independents dropped like a rock.

Oregon Voters Approve New Taxes On Businesses & “Rich”

Oregon votes for socialism. New legislation will punish producers.Oregon voters approved new taxes on businesses and those making above $250,000 a year (or $125,000 if you are single). The LA Times reported:

Facing a budget crunch that threatened to close schools early, lay off teachers and slash healthcare benefits, Oregon voters ended two decades of tax scrimping Tuesday by approving higher taxes on corporations and wealthy families.

The two ballot measures passed handily in a referendum watched closely around the country as a signal of whether voters are ready to approve targeted tax hikes to bail out cash-starved state treasuries.

Oregon voters since 1990 have limited property taxes, rejected sales taxes and vetoed across-the-board income taxes. But with 87% of the ballots counted, the measure to raise income taxes on households earning more than $250,000 a year, and individuals earning more than $125,000, was winning with 54.1%. A second measure to raise the state’s corporate income tax was ahead with 53.6%.

Business leaders had fought the measures, arguing that they would drive away entrepreneurs and force struggling businesses to slash jobs.
The two measures would raise more than $700 million to help close a gap in the state budget that at one point reached $4 billion.

Republicans spike Parkinson’s proposed tax increase - LJ World

Parkinson a former RINO Republican hack...

Topeka — Gov. Mark Parkinson’s proposal to increase the state sales tax rate by one cent was rejected Wednesday by a House committee, but the debate over whether some kind of tax increase is needed to avoid more budget cuts continues.

“None of us want to see a one cent sales tax increase, but perhaps when push comes to shove we may need,” a smaller increase, said state Rep. Julie Menghini of Pittsburg, who is the ranking Democrat on the House Tax Committee.

The Tax Committee voted 12-7 along party lines to essentially kill Parkinson’s plan to raise the state sales tax from 5.3 cents per dollar to 6.3 cents.

Religion of Peace . . . & 13-Year-Old Rapists - Debbie Schlussel
Not long after 9/11, two illegal alien Muslim teens–one of them a Paki and another from an Arabic country–snatched two young American women from a Pontiac, Michigan dance club. They raped and severely beat them, ran them over with cars, and left them for dead on a road in nearby Waterford. One of the women survived.

It’s not news that there are many cases of young Muslim men and teens raping Western women just for the heck of it. Anyone who expects Greater Arabia savagery to be moderated by artificial, unenforced Western borders or Levi’s and IPhones simply hasn’t been paying attention. In far too many cases, you can take the Muslim out of the lands of Islamic violence, but you can’t take the violence out of the Muslim . . . even with the most generous opportunities in the West. If Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab and Nidal Malik Hasan aren’t Exhibit A of that for you, you’re blind and beyond lost.

Now, there’s the case, in the UK, of Balal Khan, a 13-year-old Paki Muslim, who raped a 2o-year-old woman in front of his friends, then called the woman’s boyfriend on her cellphone and bragged about it to him. This is NOT a child. It’s a monster who knew exactly what he was doing and whose society teaches males that this behavior, especially against Infidel women, is okay. Anyone who says I’m generalizing, has, again, NOT been paying attention. There’s a reason honor suicides–where raped Muslim women kill themselves before their brothers and fathers and uncles beat them to it–are consistently on the rise in places like Turkey. Yes, “moderate” Turkey, which actually hasn’t been moderate in quite some time.

Barone: This Isn't 1994, It's Worse Than That -- Like Watergate
—Ace

The victory of a Democrat in the special election to fill Vice President Gerald Ford's House seat in February 1974 was a clear indication that the bottom had fallen out for the Republican Party. Brown's victory last week looks as if something similar has happened to the Democratic Party.
Many people ask me whether the Democrats are in as much trouble as they were in 1994. The numbers suggest they are in much deeper trouble, at least at this moment. Back in 1994 I wrote the first article in a nonpartisan publication suggesting that the Republicans had a serious chance to win the 40 seats necessary for a majority in the House. That article appeared in U.S. News & World Report in July 1994.

This year political handicapper Charlie Cook is writing in January, six months earlier in the cycle, that Republicans once again would capture the 40 seats they need for a majority if the House elections were held today. I concur. The generic vote question -- which party's candidates would you vote for in House elections -- is at least as favorable to Republicans as it was in the last month before the election in 1994.

Nothing is entirely static in politics, and opinions could change....

But I sense that something more fundamental is at stake. Obama in his first year adopted the priorities of what pundit Joel Kotkin, a Democrat himself, calls the "gentry liberals."

That last bit is a sort of interesting observation -- Obama abandoned the blue-collar/middle-class Democratic voter in favor of two groups, the lower class, and the, ahem, "Educated Class" about whom David Brooks waxes so poetically.

I was just talking to a friend about this. I don't know what the number is, so let's call it $250,000 per year -- at that level of income, all of your needs, and most reasonable wants (great private school for kids, big damn house, etc.) are taken care of. Any additional taxation doesn't really sting too badly, because above that level, you're pretty set.

On the other hand, anyone making less than that still has outstanding wants. And if you take money from them, they feel it. That means no new (or new-ish) car for your daughter. That means no renovation on the house. That means you take a cheap domestic vacation with your family rather than something more extravagant.

At lower levels of income, it may mean living in a house that's too small for your family, or being unable to send your kids to the schools you want.

The two cohorts Obama cares about -- the lower class, and the "Educated Class" -- don't care about this as much. The "Educated Class" tends to be wealthier, and have fewer children, and also tends to be so partisan that even if they're not making that much money, they set aside such concerns for the sake of political victory. The lower class of course approves of direct wealth transfers from the middle class to the lower class.

Congress and White House blame each other as Obamacare lies on its deathbed - Pundit & Pundette

We'd like to see it with a stake in the heart and buried six feet under but this monster is hard to kill. Getting close, though. The NYT declares Obamacare all-but-dead:

With no clear path forward on major health care legislation, Democratic leaders in Congress effectively slammed the brakes on President Obama’s top domestic priority on Tuesday, saying they no longer felt pressure to move quickly on a health bill after eight months of setting deadlines and missing them.

The Senate majority leader, Harry Reid, Democrat of Nevada, deflected questions about health care. “We’re not on health care now,” Mr. Reid said. “We’ve talked a lot about it in the past.”
He added, “There is no rush,” and noted that Congress still had most of this year to work on the health bills passed in 2009 by the Senate and the House.
There is no rush? That's what you call an admission of defeat. There's been nothing but rush since this all began, because speed, along with secrecy, were necessary conditions for success, even with the Dem majorities.
The Spender-in-Chief’s fiscal freeze follies - by Michelle Malkin

There are more loopholes in President Obama’s proposed “spending freeze” than in an Olympic volleyball net. Gargantuan government entitlements (Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid) are exempt. A half-trillion in unspent stimulus money is exempt. Foreign aid is exempt. The Democrats’ proposed $154 billion jobs bill (Stimulus II) is exempt.

Pet federal education programs will be exempt (including $4 billion for the White House “Race to the Top” standards initiative and an additional $1.35 billion he just requested in the 2011 budget). Green jobs spending will be exempt (Obama proposed $10 billion in new clean energy spending earlier this month). Electorally-driven tax credit expansions will be exempt. The health care takeover plan is not included. As even the New York Times reported, the “estimated $250 billion in savings over 10 years would be less than 3 percent of the roughly $9 trillion in additional deficits the government is expected to accumulate over that time.”

Which amounts to a molecule in a drop of the ocean of red ink in which American taxpayers have been drowning.

Piling on the Silky Pony Rat Bastard John Edwards

Since I am in a exceedingly shitty mood why not post more about that rat fuck John Edwards. This from WSJ Online.

Book Report: ‘The Politician’ By Andrew Young

If Washington Wire readers are interested in reading Andrew Young’s forthcoming tell-all on his decade behind the scenes with John Edwards, the story heats up on page 154when Young begins to recount how the 2008 presidential hopeful and former Democratic Party vice presidential nominee was taken down by an extramarital affair and a brazen attempt to hide his daughter’s paternity.

As most readers already know, former Sen. Edwards from North Carolina had an affair with Rielle Hunter while his wife, Elizabeth, was battling cancer and he was plotting a path to the White House. When Hunter, a videographer hired by the Edwards campaign, became pregnant, Edwards persuaded longtime “body man” Young to claim he was the father. Young went into hiding with his wife, their three children — and Hunter. Shortly afterwards, the affair was uncovered by the National Enquirer and eventually the mainstream media.

Young describes his alleged discovery of a compromising videotape of Edwards and a naked, pregnant lover, identified by Young as Hunter. “It was like watching a traffic pileup occur in slow motion — it was repelling but also transfixing,” he writes.

Young, who has severed his ties with the Edwards family, tells his side of the tale in “The Politician: An Insider’s Account of John Edwards’s Pursuit of the Presidency and the Scandal that Brought Him Down.” The book is set for a Feb. 2 release by St. Martin’s Press. Washington Wire purchased a copy Monday at a Washington, D.C.-area book store.

Last Thursday, Edwards publicly owned up to fathering Frances Quinn Hunter, born Feb. 27, 2008.

Edwards spokeswoman Joyce Fitzpatrick said he has not seen the book and would not comment on the allegations. Elizabeth Edwards could not be reached for comment. Hunter’s lawyer did not return multiple calls requesting comment.

Here are some of the highlights, which Young says are all based on eyewitness accounts and conversations he had with the Edwardses and Hunter, and in some cases, he writes that he has voicemails, emails and notes to back up his story.

Donations: “S–t, they love me — they would do anything for me,” John Edwards would say after getting a big donation, Young writes. If refused, he would say, “What the hell — why are they wasting my time? I’m going to be president. I don’t have time for this s–t. Everyone wants to give me advice. I don’t want their advice. I want their money.”

Made in USA: Young says Edwards is an Atkins-dieter who hated making appearances at state fairs where “fat rednecks try to shove food down my face. I know I’m the people’s senator, but do I have to hang out with them?” Before a SEIU candidate forum in Las Vegas, Young says Edwards made him cut out a “made in the USA” label from Young’s own suit to sew in place of Edwards’s “made in Italy” label.

Edwards’ hair: “Naturally thick and lustrous, his hair was a fixation with him. He insisted on using just one kind of shampoo — HairTec Thick & Strong Shampoo for Fine, Fragile Hair,” Young writes. He says that for years he or Edwards personally paid for the expensive haircuts rather than publicly list them as campaign expenses. He blamed the gaffe – Edward’s campaign committee picked up the tab for two $400 haircuts — on “new, inexperienced staff.”

A confrontation: Shortly after John Edwards and Hunter returned from a trip to Uganda in 2006, Elizabeth Edwards answered a cell phone call to hear Hunter who “launched into a romantic monologue,” Young writes. According to Young’s account, Elizabeth confronted her husband who “confessed to having had a one-night stand but didn’t say with whom.” He called Hunter in front of his wife to end it, but later called her back to say he didn’t mean it.

Thoughts of leaving: Young says that Edwards would confide in him about how he thought about leaving “crazy” Elizabeth, but how she plays better with American voters than he. “I cringed when he said this,” Young writes.

Time together: While Elizabeth was on a book tour for “Saving Graces,” Hunter allegedly spent time at the Edwards home. Young writes that Hunter slept in their bed and entertained the children. He also writes that he listened as Edwards told her that one day they would form their own family and have a wedding where the Dave Matthews Band would play.

Hotel reservations: Keeping the affair running throughout the campaign wasn’t easy. “When I knew where the senator was staying, I made reservations in my own name, faxed copies of my credit card and state identification card, and told the hotel staff that my ‘wife’ would be checking in on my account,” Young writes. He said he paid for much of Hunter’s expenses out of his pocket, and Edwards promised reimbursement when they found wealthy campaign donors or when Elizabeth died and he no longer had to cover up such costs. “I’ll take care of you, Andrew,” he quotes Edwards as saying. “You know I’m good for it.”

Incurable cancer: Elizabeth Edwards said publicly that she discovered her cancer had returned shortly after a rib broke from a strong hug from her husband. Young writes that she broke her rib while she was moving boxes and her husband was in Iowa planning a tryst for Hunter’s birthday. Young writes that Edwards got the call and hurried home – and sent flowers to his angry mistress.

Hunter’s pregnancy: According to Young, Hunter called him in May 2007 to say she was pregnant. Young says that when he informed Edwards, the senator told him to “handle it,” to which he replied: “I can’t handle this one.” Young writes that Edward unloaded on Hunter as a “crazy slut,” said they had an “open relationship,” and put his paternity chances at “one in three.” Young says that Edwards asked him for help persuading Hunter to have an abortion. Young writes that Hunter believed the baby to be “some kind of golden child, the reincarnated spirit of a Buddhist monk who was going to help save the world.”

A move: Right before the Iowa debate, Young says Edwards asked him to take his family and Hunter and move away – all on the dime of trial lawyer friend Fred Baron. On Dec. 15, 2007, Young released a statement claiming paternity. Baron died in October 2008.

The decision to hide: Young writes that Edwards promised “He would make sure I had a job in the future,” and told him: “You’re family. A friend like no friend I’ve ever had.” Young goes on to say that Edwards concluded “that if I helped him, I would make Mrs. Edwards’s dying days a bit easier. ‘I know you’re mad at her, Andrew, but I love her. I can’t let her die knowing this.’”

The benefactors: Baron provided a private jet and accommodations for the Youngs and Hunter while they lay low, Young writes. To hide Hunter’s expenses during her pregnancy, Edwards tapped funds from heiress and socialite Bunny Mellon, known as “the Bunny money,” as Young tells it, with payment totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars. “She did not know that money was being used in part for Rielle,” Young says.

Mellon’s lawyer, Alex Forger, said that Mellon had sent money to Edwards for his personal use, had paid gift taxes on it, and did not know how Edwards used it. “Good old Andrew Young said it was for a personal need and she responded,” Forger told Washington Wire in an interview.

Antipoverty foundation: Young says he and Edwards made plans to use Bunny Mellon’s money to set up an antipoverty foundation which Young would work for and Edwards would use to circle the globe campaigning. Young set up a nonprofit corporation, and Edwards left him a voicemail telling him, “I really love you, Andrew.”

Forger said Young had approached Mellon asking for money but she had refused to give him any because she did not have enough liquidity to do that. When Young suggested she mortgage her farm, Mellon was upset and complained to Edwards, Forger said.
