Welcome to Jimmy Carter’s 2nd term
It has taken three decades, but Americans are finally living through Jimmy Carter’s second term.
Now we’ve got Jimmy Jr. barking at us from the White House about eating our peas and ripping off our Band-Aid. He might not even let us have our Social Security checks.

These are just the latest in a long line of nagging lectures. Already, we have been taught how we should sneeze into the crook of our arm. We need to drive less. And we need to caulk up those drafty houses of ours.
What ever happened to the soaring rhetoric and big bold ideas President Obama promised us in that historic election of his?

Is this what he meant by a new kind of politics? If so, no thanks. Oh, and it is not new. Jimmy already dragged us through all this once and we just barely survived it.

Stunning Obama economic illiteracy

President Obama’s press conference yesterday—in which he only took questions from left-leaning reporters apparently–contained an amazing statement. It should be noted the first two instances of the first person singular pronoun in the sentence refer to Barack Obama, President of the United States. The second two refer to Barack Obama, taxpaying citizen:
And I do not want, and I will not accept, a deal in which I am asked to do nothing, in fact, I’m able to keep hundreds of thousands of dollars in additional income that I don’t need, while a parent out there who is struggling to figure out how to send their kid to college suddenly finds that they’ve got a couple thousand dollars less in grants or student loans.
There is, of course, nothing whatever stopping Barack Obama, taxpaying citizen, from donating his excess income to the United States Treasury. But his statement demonstrates an astonishing economic illiteracy. To be sure, someone earning a great deal of money has an income greater than what he spends. You can only spend so much on luxurious living however hard you try, a reality so rich with comic possibilities that a 1902 novel called Brewster’s Millions has been made into a movie no fewer than nine times.

The Media Are In The Bag For Obama
Media Bias: How much does it take for the Obama administration to spin the press? Not much, if the latest round of stories about debt negotiations are any indication.

The debt talks handed President Obama a timely opportunity to position himself as a centrist for the 2012 elections and win back independents who've been abandoning him.

Of course, the idea that Obama is a moderate is ludicrous to anyone who's even casually followed this presidency. The biggest expansion in federal spending since World War II, ObamaCare, regulators run amok and now the push for massive tax hikes. No wonder more than half the public — including one in five Democrats — think Obama's more liberal than they are.

Obama Raises More Than $86M For Campaign, DNC

Obama takes in $47 million in first fundraising quarter

No, it’s not the $86 million figure that’s been bouncing around since last night, at least not for Barack Obama’s re-election campaign specifically.  Jim Geraghty explained in his first report that the more spectacular figure included money that Obama raised for the DNC.  National Journal’s Reid Wilson got the specifics of what funds went into which coffer, but still calls the Obama result “staggering”:

President Obama‘s campaign will report raising a staggering $47 million in the past three months, his campaign manager said in a web video released early Wednesday morning.
That amount dwarfs the money raised in the last three months by the entire Republican field, underscoring just how great an advantage the incumbent will have over the eventual GOP nominee. Obama’s haul is well over twice as much as the $18 million the leading Republican,Mitt Romney, managed to pull in. …

Lights Out… Democrats Block Repeal of Lightbulb Ban – Vote Gives Jobs to China
House democrats blocked the repeal of the light bulb ban. A majority of Americans oppose the government’s unpopular and unnecessary ban on incandescent bulbs and infringement on choice. On January 1 2012, 100 watt incandescent bulbs will become illegal, with lower wattages to follow.
The democrats just voted to give jobs to China.

LAWSUIT! Sheila Jackson Lee Tormented Disabled Ex-Aide
Its been well known the Sheila Jackson Lee's brain lights are set to dim. Some would say that she rivals Barbara Boxer for the title of dumbest person in Congress. Jackson Lee who once wasted the time of Congress with a piece of legislation to honor the late Michael Jackson (A Tribute to an American Legend and Musical Icon) that made the accused child molester seem like Mother Teresa. Then there was the time she stood on the floor of the house discussing how North and South Vietnam are living peacefully side by side, even though there hasn't been a North and South Vietnam since Gerald Ford was President.

Adding to her resume of incompetence, the IQ-challenged lawmaker is being sued by one of her former staffers for being particularly nasty about her disability.
Doctor Says Parents Should Lose Custody Of Obese Kids
CHICAGO — Should parents of extremely obese children lose custody for not controlling their kids’ weight? A provocative commentary in one of the nation’s most distinguished medical journals argues yes, and its authors are joining a quiet chorus of advocates who say the government should be allowed to intervene in extreme cases.

It has happened a few times in the U.S., and the opinion piece in Wednesday’s Journal of the American Medical Association says putting children temporarily in foster care is in some cases more ethical than obesity surgery.

Dr. David Ludwig, an obesity specialist at Harvard-affiliated Children’s Hospital Boston, said the point isn’t to blame parents, but rather to act in children’s best interest and get them help that for whatever reason their parents can’t provide.

Final note:

“Free at lase free at last thank God Almighty I am free at last.”
Today is my personal emancipation day.
“None so blind as those who will not see”
Today I FINALLY see! Thank you Lord!
