Dear Ruler says that now that the debt deal is done, he is going to re-focus on jobs and the economy. Wow. Can’t say that has me all that confident that things are going to turn around. Why? Well let’s take a look at how things are going in the Obama Economy, which is now officially the weakest two-year recovery since WWII.
A growing trend among the ObamaMedia in the wake of the debt deal is to question whether these budget cuts will hurt our economic recovery. Seriously? Our economy is barely limping along at 1.3% GDP growth … there’s not much more that we could do at this point to hurt our economic growth other than to continue to grow the size of government and increase regulations and taxes. I have it under good authority to assume that Obama and the Democrats would be OK with all of these things. Cutting spending is one thing that we haven’t yet tried. Even so, is the ObamaMedia even aware of what these budget cuts look like? For FY 2012, we are look at a measly $21 billion cut in discretionary spending. That’s less than 1% of our almost $4 trillion budget, and that doesn’t take into account the fact that Obama has increased spending by 25% since coming into office! And the ObamaMedia is worried that this cut of less than 1% of next year’s budget is going to hurt our economic recovery??

Obama’s Seven Deadly Sins - The Conservatory
I’ve got a friend whom I’m in the process of “flipping”—I hope!—to free-market values. This evening, he asked if I could catalog the ways that the President has turned the Housing Crash of 2008 into the Lost Half Decade [at least] that we appear to be facing now.
I realized then that I don’t keep a running list, but for those of you who live in purple states this may be a fruitful exercise. We need to be ready to defend our points of view in a really clear way, and even be pleasant about it on occasion.
I realize that we like to bitch among ourselves on most of these threads and on the discussion board, but . . . most of us are likely to encounter a handful of True Independent Voters over the next 15 months—and there will be many more than that for those of us who like to go to swing states and campaign before a big election—so it might be time to start expressing some of these concepts in persuasive, semi-detached language that, ahem, doesn’t judge (at least out loud) those who were taken in by voted for the President in 2008. So I’m going to try to do that, and even follow my “no cussin’ on the home page” rule.

What is, in your mind, the most destructive thing that this President has done with respect to the economy in general, and job-creation in particular? For each action, what would have been the correct course? Let me know.
I’m personally of the opinion that most Presidents can’t fix a bad economy; they can only make things worse. And I’m convinced that at nearly every turn, this President has done so over the past two and a half years.

and this...

Is Obama Showing Signs of Being Disconnected from the Reality of Our Nation’s Plight?

Taxpayers Will Pay for Obama Bus Tour of Battleground States, Says White House
( - President Barack Obama’s upcoming bus tour through the Midwest states typically viewed as swing states during presidential election years will be paid for by the taxpayers, the White House says.

Obama will start the tour on Aug. 15 and will talk about strengthening jobs and the economy, the White House announced on Tuesday.

“He is very happily getting out into the country again after a very sustained period here in Washington and he looks forward to talking to folks about growing the economy, creating jobs," said White House Press Secretary Jay Carney. "We will have more details, as I said, about the specifics of the trip."

Barack Obama 50th Birthday: At Least This is the Day He Told Us

Satirical mints poking fun at Obama pulled from UT bookstore
Breath mints are usually refreshing, but a Knoxville legislator believes a University of Tennessee bookstore's selling of novelty candies mocking President Barack Obama stinks.

UT officials pulled the mints poking fun at Obama from store shelves after state Rep. Joe Armstrong, a Democrat, visited the bookstore and told the director he found the satirical mints offensive.

"When you operate on state and federal dollars, you ought to be sensitive to those type of politically specific products," Armstrong said. "If it was a private entity or corporation or store, (that's different), but this is a state university. We certainly don't want in any way to put the university in a bad light by having those political (products), particularly aimed at defaming the president."

The tin can of mints has a blue and red image of the president with the words: "This is change? Disappointmints."

Not Good! Unemployment Rises In Nearly All US Cities

WASHINGTON – Unemployment rates rose in more than 90 percent of U.S. cities in June, mirroring a national slowdown in hiring.

The Labor Department said Wednesday that unemployment rates rose in 345 large metro areas. They dropped in 20 cities and were unchanged in seven. That’s worse than May, when rates rose in only 210 cities. And it is a sharp reversal from April, when unemployment rates fell in nearly all metro areas.

The biggest increase was in Joplin, Mo, which was hit by a major tornado on May 22. The city lost 9,400 jobs in June, and the unemployment rate jumped nearly 2 percentage points, to 9.6 percent.

The national unemployment rate ticked up to 9.2 percent in June, the highest level this year.

Businesses have cut back on hiring this spring. Employers added only 18,000 jobs in June, the fewest in nine months. That’s down sharply from an average of 215,000 net job gains each month in the February-April period.

Economic growth declined to less than 1 percent in the first half of this year. That’s slowest pace since the recession ended two years ago.

Arianna Huffington: Nobody Believes Obama's Top Priority Is Jobs - It's Getting Reelected

The One-Termer We've Been Waiting For

In February of 2009, President Obama went on the Today Show to discuss a variety of issues, including his plan to turn the economy around. When asked about the consequences of failure for his presidency, he replied with unusual frankness: "I will be held accountable.… If I don't have this done in three years, then there's going to be a one-term proposition." The January 2009 unemployment rate had just been released a few days before that interview was broadcast, and it stood at 7.6 percent. Now, more than two and a half years later, the rate stands at 9.2 percent. Moreover, unemployment has only dipped below 9 percent in two of the past 26 months. This is the longest run of such rates since the Great Depression. In other words, Obama's three years are nearly up and he most emphatically doesn't "have this done."

Back to Big Government Spending as Usual - Michelle Malkin
Woo-hoo! It’s back to the Windy City for the president’s 50th birthday campaign fund-raising bash — and, as my column spotlights today, it’s back to big government spending as usual in the Beltway swamp. Same as it ever was. Pay special attention to the coordinated clamor for a government-sponsored “infrastructure bank.” I’ve been reporting on this corporate welfare/union slush fund for months and Obama and his progressive p.r. machine have been ramping up again (see here here here) to push it.

Help push back.

Black Student Sues White School Over Racist “Wigger Day”

MINNEAPOLIS — A Black student at a predominantly white high school outside of Minneapolis has filed a federal class action lawsuit against her school for supporting an annual “wigger day” celebration.

Quera Pruitt, who attends Red Wing High School, claims that the school was indifferent to the harm this day did to their Black student base.

“Wigger is a pejorative slang term for a white person who emulates the mannerisms, language and fashions associated with African-American culture,” the complaint states.

Court House News reports:
“The students who participated in Wigger or Wangsta day wore clothes that, from their perspective, mimicked Black culture. These costumes included oversized sports jerseys, low-slung pants, baseball hats cocked to the side and ‘doo rags’ on their heads. Some of the students displayed gang signs.

“Principal Borgen was aware that the Wednesday of Homecoming Week had historically been referred to among the students as ‘Wednesday Wigger Day.’

“Indeed, September 30, 2009, was not the first time the students at Red Wing High School held Wigger or Wangsta Day. School officials acknowledge that ‘Wednesday Wigger Day’ had occurred in at least the ‘last couple of years’ prior to September 30, 2009
