Now, in the midst of this debate, there are some who seem to be suffering from a kind of collective amnesia. After all that’s happened, after the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, they want to return to the same practices that got us into this mess.
In fact, they want to go back to the same policies that have stacked the deck against middle-class Americans for too many years.
Their philosophy is simple: we are better off when everyone is left to fend for themselves and play by their own rules.
Well, I’m here to say they are wrong.

Via - I Hate The Media
Obama now blames The Internet for job losses. “‘If you were a bank teller or a phone operator or a travel agent, you saw many in your profession replaced by ATMs and the internet,’ President Obama said at a campaign event in Kansas.” Possibly the reason for that is the Democrat political circus act hasn’t mandated all sorts of “benefits” like Obamacare coverage for ATMs and the internet yet.

Obama's speech ... Fair Fair Fair - By Neal Boortz
Dear Ruler gave a campaign speech in Kansas yesterday.  I told you yesterday that his theme was to be “fairness,” and he certainly did stick with that theme.  In a particularly lengthy lecture .. with a teleprompter, of course .. Barack Obama ramped up his class warfare campaign.
Predictably, the ObamaMedia went into a state of euphoria over this speech.  National Journal’s Ron Fournier said Obama’s speech was “…a searing and historically poignant account of the greatest challenge of the American experiment.”
Ok … if you’re through gagging, let’s take a look at Obama’s speech by numbers.  This may help to better understand what kind of speech this really was.  Here’s a look at how many times certain words appeared in his speech:
Freedom: zero.
Liberty: one.
Opportunity: three.
Responsibility: six.
Fair (or some variation): Fifteen.

I know a number of people have been analyzing Obama’s speech; I had a number of people ask if I was going to see him since he was not too far from me and I just smiled and said “no not interested in hearing him speak,” did not say why but I wanted to say the last thing I wanted to do is hear him sound off about a lot of nonsensical bullshit. Folks I can’t get upset by what he said or says because he is doing exactly what I thought he would do, he is fucking up things exactly as I knew he would do, he is trying to sell the same rhetoric he tried to sell during his last campaign and the same idiots who fell for his bullshit the first time will fall for it again because liberalism is a fucking mental disease and people are less inclined to follow common sense and sound judgment today than ever before. This reminds me of one of the more memorable coaching meltdowns by former Arizona Cardinal Coach Dennis Green. We have had three years of Obama’s bullshit and he is clearly an incompetent fool. So while some of you may have been misled by his charm and hope and change slogan bullshit in 2008 you know exactly what he is about now. Forget about the fact that we still know little about his past whether that be old girlfriends, business associates, school history, associations with unscrupulous characters; we clearly understand how he governs and he has run the country into the toilet. So if by some strange circumstance he manages to get reelected the entire country will be in further meltdown like the old coach here. Folks Obama has jacked us all over; don’t let him off the hook and give this fool four more years.

While in Congress, Gingrich co-sponsored 418 bills with Pelosi
DES MOINES, Iowa — Newt Gingrich has taken heat on the campaign trail from conservatives for filming a 2008 commercial on climate change with House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi.
But that was hardly the first time the Republican presidential candidate and former House speaker collaborated with Pelosi.
Gingrich co-sponsored 418 bills in Congress with Pelosi during the 12 years they served together in the House, according to the Library of Congress’s THOMAS database.
Gingrich was in Congress from 1979 to 1999. Pelosi has served since 1987.
As a matter of comparison, House Speaker John Boehner, who has served in Congress with Pelosi for more than 20 years, has only co-sponsored 104 bills with her.
Many of the bills Gingrich and Pelosi co-sponsored were hardly divisive: authorizing an award for Mother Teresa, giving a congressional gold medal to former President Gerald Ford and recognizing the 50th anniversary of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.
But one piece of legislation could be problematic for Gingrich with conservatives: the Global Warming Prevention Act of 1989, which never made it out of committee.
The legislation declared that climate change was “a major threat to political stability, international security and economic prosperity.”
The bill could also make the pro-life community uneasy with language about the availability of “family planning services” that included a declaration that, “curbing world population growth will be critical to achieving the goals.”
And while it prohibited funds from going towards “involuntary sterilization or abortion,” it doesn’t appear the bill would have prevented “voluntary” cases of abortion.
R.C. Hammond, a spokesman for Gingrich, didn’t comment when reached by email.
Gingrich’s environmental proposals include altering climate with giant mirrors
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich‘s hobby, he says, is studying “dinosaurs and other fossils.” He openly mourned the death of Knut the polar bear.Gingrich believes it is a “false dichotomy” to group policies according to whether they deal with the country’s economic problems or protect the environment.  Instead, he thinks government can incentivize the production of new energy technologies, which would consequently help the environment and the economy by making the country less dependent on foreign oil.
Here’s a sampling of some of Gingrich’s more interesting environmental ideas:
1) Build “a large array of mirrors [that] could affect the earth’s climate,” to extend farmers’ growing season. He outlined this proposal in his book “A Contract with the Earth.”

2) “A billion-dollar tax-free prize for a hydrogen engine that can be produced at a commercially available price. I think that we should have a substantial prize for developing the first engine that can be mass-produced that gets 100 miles or more to the gallon of fuel. I think that we should have a substantial research program under way for dramatically better ethanol products than corn or cane sugar,” he told in an interview in 2007.

3) Disband the Environmental Protection Agency and fire all the people who currently work there. All current employees must go because “I don’t think you can train the current bureaucrats. I think their bias against capitalism, their bias against local government, their bias against economic rationality, is just amazing,” Gingrich explained at a Politico event. Replace it with an agency called the Environmental Solutions Agency and hire a new group of different bureaucrats to work there.

More stuff I read today...

The Wall Street Journal: Tax Rates, Inequality and the 1%.

The largest government employee union in the country endorsed Obama yesterday: “President Obama is the only choice for the 99 percent. We must put people back to work, make the 1 percent pay their fair share, and protect Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security.”

The Library of Congress and Twitter have signed agreement that will see an archive of every public Tweet ever sent handed over to the government.

Tacoma Mayor: Minorities Don’t Like Republicans Because “They Are Racist”… - Weasel Zippers
"And yet this mayor belongs to the party of the KKK and Jim Crow."

Via MYNorthwest:
Tacoma’s Mayor Marilyn Strickland recently told students at Pacific Lutheran University that the reasons Republicans were unsuccessful in recruiting minorities was because “they are racist.” When her comments leaked to the media, she said she intended to say that they were “perceived as racist.”
I don’t buy the idea that she “intended” to say something different. But I can accept that in hindsight she wishes she had. And that’s a start. At least she acknowledges that Republicans are trying to include minorities, which is more than some Democrats have been willing to say of late. And it’s good that she feels enough shame in her remarks that she wishes to modify them. As someone who speaks in public for a living, I know it’s easy to say something stupid you wish you could take back.

Quarter-Billion Taxpayer Dollars Spent on Penis Pumps
According to data collected by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Medicare has spent more than $240 million of taxpayer money on penis pumps for elderly men over the past decade, and will surpass a quarter of a billion dollars this year for costs since 2001. The cost to taxpayers for the pumps more than quadrupled during that period, from a low of $11 million in 2001 to a high of more than $47 million in 2010. And these represent only the costs for external devices, technically classified as “Male Vacuum Erection Systems,” not implantable devices or oral drugs such as Viagra.

Woman Kills Self And Shoots Kids After Being Denied Welfare
LAREDO, Texas  — A mother who had been denied welfare benefits killed herself and shot her two children after a seven-hour standoff at a government social services office, police said. The children, a 10-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl, were in critical condition Tuesday, Laredo police investigator Joe Baeza said.
The standoff began around 5 p.m. Monday afternoon. Baeza said the woman was speaking with two employees when she pulled out a gun and said she wanted to speak to a supervisor. When the supervisor arrived, he convinced her to let the employees go in exchange for keeping him.
Meanwhile, about 25 other people were moved to safety, police said.
Police negotiators stayed on the phone with the woman throughout the evening, but she kept hanging up. She let the supervisor go unharmed around 7:45, but stayed inside the office with her children. After hanging up the phone around 11:45, police heard three shots, and a SWAT team entered the building. Inside, they found her body and her two wounded children.
