Bill Maher and the Last Bastion of the Intellectually Lazy

As many of you are now aware, Bill Maher (as well as a host of other commentators on the left) has a long history of making sexist, uncivil comments with regard to conservatives, and conservative women in particular. In fact, Maher’s misogyny has gotten so out of hand, that now many noted liberal columnists, such as Kirsten Powers, are finally calling him (and some other progressive pundits) out on his egregious behavior.
However, this past Friday evening Bill Maher–who is now well aware that even those on his own side of the aisle have grown weary of his misogyny–decided to move on from picking on women to picking on poor people. Maher sent Alexandra Pelosi (the daughter of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi) to rural Mississippi to supposedly interview prospective Republican voters about the upcoming Mississippi primary. While Ms. Pelosi’s video aired during Maher’s show, he, Jon Hamm and some other liberals on his panel sneered at the poor, barely literate people in the video (see video at title link). Francis Martel of Mediate implied that Maher and his panel were elitist when she wrote that they were “mocking rural Mississippi residents from a smug Hollywood perch”. While I agree with Ms. Martel that elitism was definitely on display here, something else more sinister was afoot.

 

Folks I found this little piece interesting because for me as a black dude I find it fascinating because it kinda reminds me of my critics when I first started blogging.

Here I was this outlandish ridiculously politically incorrect bashing his own kind protecting evil right wing values.

The quotes on the top of this blog tell the story:

  “one of the most vile and racist blogs I have ever seen”

"Magic Negro Watch - bogus self-loathing madness"

"Think he's suffering from Stockholm Syndrome"

“why do you hate your own race?”

"This site is totally bogus! Still looking for the KKK logo"

So am I indeed eating my own in essence when I mock black folks who like Maher points out that they seemingly vote against their own interests?

I don’t know the answer just thinking kinda out loud.

With me I did not develop my political and social leanings taking into consideration my skin color. Something is either right or wrong for America, good or bad for America, harmful or not to America, detrimental to the long term survival of America and what color and how many teeth you have is completely irrelevant.

While Maher’s point is to clearly mock and malign trying to gain cool points by bashing whitey I don’t have an agenda.  While of course I don’t have the audience that Maher does… which frankly is inexplicable to me because the man is an buffoon. Maher brings little or no probative value to any political or sociological discussion, dude is a comedian And the writer of this piece is dead on when she points out that Maher as are most liberals intellectually lazy. 

This is also why I absolutely don’t understand why anyone, particularly anyone on the right goes on this dudes show and seeing Michael Steele on that show further illustrates why he should have never been made the head of the GOP.

While I did find it slightly amusing the video highlights the worst of the worst in hillbilly America, the entire country is on a significant decline and it is not too difficult to find human beings so low in down the intellectual totem pole these days of all colors, creeds, religions and even economic status in all parts of the country.

Yes while there are a significant number of toothless conservatives there are an equal (or greater) number of mentally deficient left wing types that are doing far more damage to this country.

I don’t have to worry about those hillbillies bothering me, even the ones who say they don’t like black people. Liberals are the ones who insist on interjecting themselves in every aspect of all our lives. Liberals are the ones who keep electing idiots like Barrack Obama and other mindless conniving Democrats.

Who do I find more offensive these toothless hillbillies touting god and guns or that idiot woman Obama fan celebrating the fact that she would not have to worry about paying for her Mortgage or gas because Obama will take care of her?

  Mitt Romney’s grits and catfish act goes too far for Southern critics - Boston Herald 

Mitt Romney’s transformation into a cheesy grits- and catfish-loving, ya’ll-uttering good ol’ boy in the face of tight contests in Mississippi and Alabama today is being panned by critics — skeptical Southern party officials and pundits.

“If you’re going to pander, at least pander well, and this isn’t pandering well,” said Stephen Gordon, a Republican consultant based in Birmingham, Ala. The former Bay State governor is a Yankee, Gordon said, and will always face skepticism no matter how many catfish filets he raves about.
“People in the Deep South have a bit of a natural distrust for Northerners, especially folks from the Northeast,” said Gordon, who is not affiliated with any campaign in the Republican presidential contest. “There are cultural differences, stemming all the way back to the Civil War, and they affect the way people perceive Mr. Romney.”

Romney, who praised the local delicacy known as cheesy grits during a campaign stop in Jackson, Miss., last week, told a crowd in Mobile, Ala., yesterday that he’s developing a taste for catfish, after telling a South Carolina restaurant owner that he’s “not a catfish man” earlier this year.
“I’m learning to say ‘y’all’ and I like grits. Strange things are happening to me,” Romney joked while stumping in Pascagoula, Miss., over the weekend.
The Michigan native — who claimed trees there are “the right height” days before the Wolverine State’s primary — also reeled in an endorsement from Jeff Foxworthy, a comedian famous for his “You might be a redneck if ... ” act.

But all the Dixie patronizing isn’t even convincing Romney backers.
“Does Romney think he can win over Southerners by marching around with the redneck comedian?” asked Chris Brown, the former executive director of the Alabama Republican Party, who is supporting Romney. “Does he think we’re all rednecks?”

I was watching the evening news briefly last evening and they did a story about Romney and his idiot ass grits comment.

You know people while I would love to get Obama’s dumb ass out of office this is exactly why Republicans and of course Romney has no shot.

You mean to tell me that Romney is not a seasoned enough politician to know that you don’t go to an area of the country and mock the very people whose vote you are trying to win?

My sincere apologies to you Romney fans but dude is an idiot, the more he opens his mouth…. I don’t know I get a bad vibe from him. He is not even remotely presidential. As much as I dislike Obama at least he can somewhat pretend to be presidential.

I swear Romney looks like an alien who has been dropped out of a space ship to try and convince us humans he is on our side and this grit and catfish shit is more evidence of his incompetence.

Who the fuck is running this dude campaign!?

Obama’s sudden polling crash - Salon

 Is there an innocent explanation for two new surveys that show his approval rating falling to ominously low levels?  

When a poll showing Barack Obama’s approval rating dropping four percent was released Monday morning, it seemed reasonable to dismiss the ensuing commotion as much ado about nothing.
After all, it was just one survey, and the president’s 46 percent approval score, while down from the 50 percent he registered in the same ABC News/Washington Post poll last month, was still basically consistent with his average approval number in other recent polls.

But when the day ended with another reputable survey finding an even more dramatic decline in Obama’s standing, it became harder to deny that something was up. A month ago, the CBS News/New York Times poll gave Obama a 50 percent approval rating – his highest mark in that poll since the spring of 2010 (not counting a one-time surge last May when Osama bin Laden was killed). But now just 41 percent approve of Obama’s job performance, with 47 percent rating it unfavorably.

If you care about helping the less fortunate succeed, I’m commenting today on a Thomas Sowell column that will make you sad and angry. It is a story about how powerless and disadvantaged people are being hurt to advance the political interests of some elitists.
Here is the clever way he starts the column. I particularly like the reference to Social Security as a Ponzi scheme, which reminds me of this cartoon.

There have been many frauds of historic proportions — for example, the financial pyramid scheme for which Charles Ponzi was sent to prison in the 1920s, and for which Franklin D. Roosevelt was praised in the 1930s, when he called it Social Security. In our own times, Bernie Madoff’s hoax has made headlines. But the biggest hoax of the past two generations is still going strong — namely, the hoax that statistical differences in outcomes for different groups are due to the way other people treat those groups.

Then he gets to the meat of his topic.

The latest example of this hoax is the joint crusade of the Department of Education and the Department of Justice against schools that discipline black males more often than other students. According to Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, this disparity in punishment violates the “promise” of “equity.” Just who made this promise remains unclear, and why equity should mean equal outcomes despite differences in behavior is even more unclear. This crusade by Attorney General Eric Holder and Secretary of Education Arne Duncan is only the latest in a long line of fraudulent arguments based on statistics. If black males get punished more often than Asian American females, does that mean that it is somebody else’s fault? That it is impossible that black males are behaving differently from Asian American females? Nobody in his right mind believes that. But that is the unspoken premise, without which the punishment statistics prove nothing about “equity.”

 This contraception thing … are you operating under the mistaken impression that what we’ve been talking about here is a right to use contraception?  Not so.  If you listened carefully to the words of the now-famous Sandra Fluke you will have heard that the issue wasn’t whether or not she or her horny classmates could use contraception – but rather who would pay for it.  Fluke, you see, was demanding that the pills and condoms be paid for by someone else; and now she’s been joined by aaaaaaacitivists across the country.   Somehow in this age of entitlement contraception has become a right .. which means that it absolutely must be paid for by someone else.
