The Lost 5 Million

Five million Americans have been thrown under the bus. They are walking around dazed, outcast, and defeated. Worst of all, they are not even counted in official tallies of the unemployed. They are those whom the Obama administration simply wishes to ignore: working-age adults who have dropped out of the labor market completely. They are those for whom the economic recovery underway should have created jobs but has not.
Despite Obama's latest assertion of having created 4 million jobs in the last 26 months, the reality is that in the past two years, 5.4 million workers have left the job market entirely. These are the 5.4 million whom academics like to call "discouraged workers," and as far as the administration and its media cheerleaders are concerned, they do not exist. The fact is that these millions of Americans are not so much discouraged as they are hopeless.
They are working-age adults who, in a normal economic recovery, would have found jobs in an expanding economy. But this recovery -- one can hardly call it that -- is not at all normal. The U.S. economy has expanded on average at something like 2% since Obama took office, and now, with the latest GDP growth figures for the first quarter of 2012 revised downward to 1.8%, the economy seems to be slipping back toward stagnation, if not recession.

The Left and Con Men - American Thinker
I don't know if you been following the stories about the problem some bloggers such as Robert Stacy McCain, Patterico, Liberty Chick, Aaron Worthing, and Virginia attorney Aaron Walker have been having with harassment by a convicted felon, domestic bomber Brett Kimberlin. Kimberlin now runs a not-for-profit called the Justice Through Music Project. Kimberlin, a jailhouse lawyer, has also filed dozens of suits. Stacy McCain has actually moved to an undisclosed location because of threats. Lee Stranahan has put together a short video on Kimberlin's criminal career and asks that this Friday be Blog about Brett Kimberlin Day.

I thought the name was vaguely familiar when I heard it this week. It turns out that Kimberlin has been spreading lies about conservatives for almost as long as he's been a criminal. Remember the risible story that then-Vice President Dan Quayle had been a drug user? The source was a jailbird named Brett Kimberlin. Upon his final release from prison, you'd think the reality-based community would figure out Kimberlin is a con man. I mean, it's not as if no one has ever written about his lies. The reporter who broke the story about Quayle wrote an entire book in 1996 on how Kimberlin had repeatedly lied to him. Instead of being an outcast, Kimberlin now seems to be a progressive institution.

Rough Night… Obama Loses 36 Arkansas Counties to Unknown Democrat – Loses 67 Kentucky Counties to “Uncommitted” - Gateway Pundit
 It was a rough night.
With 89% of counties reporting, Barack Obama lost 36 Arkansas counties to newbie candidate John Wolfe in Arkansas.
If Hillary Clinton wanted to run against Obama for the Democratic nomination she would win in a landslide… just sayin…

It may be time for another Boortz “I told you so.”  I’ve been telling you for a while now that Barack Obama and the Democrats are dedicated to the construction of an economic Berlin Wall.  This is not a wall built to keep others out.  Nope. That was not the purpose of the Berlin Wall.  This is a wall built to trap successful businesses and individuals from leaving the United States.  They will be forced to stay as slaves to our cumbersome tax laws and onerous regulations.

The outrage last week was over Facebook’s co-founder renouncing his US citizenship, giving the Democrats the perfect excuse to add another brick to that wall.  Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin (born in Brazil) has been living in Singapore for years and last week he announced that he was giving up his US citizenship.  Why the outrage?  Because Eduardo was about to become even richer than he already was.  With Facebook going public, Eduardo’s share was set to be worth as much as $4 billion.  Along with that $4 billion comes a lot of … taxes!  Perhaps as much as $67 million in taxes, to be exact.

This sent the Democrats into a conniption fit.  How dare this rich, successful businessman try to leave our country and not pay his fair share!  So Chuckie Schumer and Bob Casey (Democrats) introduced the Ex-PATRIOT Act with great fanfare.  This would give the federal government the power to confiscate up to 30% of an entrepreneur’s self-made wealth if they renounce their citizenship.

Eduardo Saverin, by the way, says that taxes were not the reason he was leaving the US but that he would pay the taxes, nonetheless.

During his 2008 campaign, Barack Obama was like a mixture of the Teletubbies, a Hallmark card, and Morgan Freeman's portrayal of God in Bruce Almighty all mixed up in one big fruity glass. Every time you listened to the guy it was "hope" this, "change," I love "unity," "we are the ones we've been waiting for," and creating a "new tone" in D.C. That strategy turned out to be plausible because Bush was so unpopular and Obama's entire career consisted of getting elected to office and moving on before he had time to accomplish anything. That allowed Americans to see what they wanted to see instead of the real Barack Obama.
Since then, the American people have gotten an opportunity to see Barack Obama perform up close and personal in the world's most high profile job and they've found out the reality isn't much like the pretty picture the media and Obama's teleprompter painted for them in 2008. Barack Obama is not a nice guy, a genuine fellow, or someone you'd enjoy going to a ballgame with. He's everything people hate about politics personified: He's a nasty, habitually dishonest, hyper-partisan extremist whose entire strategy seems to be to drag the country off to the left while he blames other people for his failures and pits Americans against each other as much as possible. Comparing him to Nixon is even a bit of a stretch in that Tricky Dick may have been a son-of-a-b*tch, but he was at least a bipartisan and competent son-of-a-b*tch, which is something you can't truly say about Obama.

Sen. Kennedy was the weakest he'd ever been as he sought re-election in 1994. In his six terms in office, Kennedy had never trailed a general election opponent in a poll, and he'd never won by fewer than 14 percentage points.

But 1994 was different. Since his last election, the image of Kennedy as a philandering, reckless drunk had been etched in voters' minds, in part due to revelations of his carousing that had emerged three years earlier in the rape trial of his nephew, William Kennedy Smith.

Plus at 62, Kennedy looked tired, old and overweight -- a stark contrast to the relatively young, fit, clean-living Romney. "Kennedy fatigue," more than one political pundit observed, had set in. By September Romney had won the Republican primary and was neck-and-neck with Kennedy.

Desperate to tarnish Romney's family man image, Kennedy and his surrogates attacked Romney's faith, citing the Mormon Church's past racially exclusive policies and its denial of the priesthood to women. (To cover himself, Kennedy also began publicly calling for the ordination of women in the Catholic Church.)

HIGHER EDUCATION BUBBLE UPDATE: A College Bubble So Big Even The New York Times And 60 Minutes Can See It…Sort Of.
Key bit: “Wadhwa argues that U.S. colleges and universities are the best in the world. Maybe that’s true, but so what? U.S. homes were probably the best in the world too, but that doesn’t mean that we had no bubble. U.S. tech firms in the late 90s were the best in the world, but that didn’t mean they were reasonably valued. Bubble-ness is a factor of quality AND PRICE. The point is that there is no asset of such great quality that it is a good buy no matter how high the price goes. A college diploma is no exception to that rule.”

Would like to be a fly on the wall when Bush discusses Obummer's administration. That conversation would be a laugh a minute.

As to the 5 million plus who've given up on ever finding a job I wish they would include those people in the labor statistics of the unemployed. They would do it for a conservative if for no other reason than to make him look bad.

This is THE ONE's depression, not recession.

Bush discussing Obama's administration? Really? GWB messed his 8 years up so badly he's been in hiding since leaving the white house. His public appearance are just about zero. Probably just sitting at home in Texas and getting drunk.
